    Hate to be harsh, but if he can play on astro he's already an improvement on Simo. We don't have enough depth in the defense to be carrying a player who's automatically out if the pitch isn't right...

    HAPOEL BE’ER SHEVA have confirmed Hatem Abd Elhamed is on his way to Celtic.

    Alona Barkat, owner of the Israeli club, admitted a £1.6million deal has been agreed with the Hoops.

    Defender Abd Elhamed hopes to complete his move in the coming days and Barkat revealed she is PROUD of him.

    She said: “What I have said to Hatem will remain private between us. But I am the owner of a proud club that our player is going to play in a great team like Celtic.

    We are honoured and wish that all of our players fulfil their dreams.”

    Abd Elhamed can play right-back or in central defence and is set to sign a four-year deal with Celtic.

    Hold my judgement until he plays a few games beer sheva are no push overs as we know if he's their 1st team cb and we paid a mill and half for him then it's not bad business even better if he performs better than simo and we get 6.9 mill for him

    Hapoel Tadiran Beer Sheva and Celtic signed an agreement to transfer Hatem Elhamid to the Scottish team. Hatem will immediately undergo medical examinations and work permit arrangements in Scotland. Upon completion of the proceedings, Hatem will officially transfer to Celtic.

    I have a feeling this will be a decent signing. He’s a good physique and while the Israeli league isn’t the best around, there are some very decent teams and players there.

    Seems very driven too so I bet he’ll surprise a few people. Stay positive folks!

    Why do people think this guy is being signed as a CB. He plays in the RB and CB position, surely with the lack of RB's we have this guy is being signed to fill that position.

    Hes played 5 games at RB in his entire career.

    Played more games at CM than RB

    That isnt really true though, that Transfermarkt website have only been recoring where the guys played in Israel for like 3 seasons, before that they never recorded where he played. So they are only recent games.

    So he could have played right back the whole season 4 years ago but they just dont say what position he played.

    Like on there they say he has played 188 club games but they only have what position he played in 68 games.

    Also it seems they didn't count stats of the Isreal Cup until 2016 as it seems unlikely that he never played in that competition until then.

    They also don't count assists stats in the Israeli League until 2016 so his assists stats aren't really accurate either as he played 4 seasons where they didnt have any data.

    From what can be gathered about him online, his versatility is why he has been signed. I don't think he is being signed as someone expected to walk into the first team in any position, least of all right-back.
    The confusion seems to be because we need a right-back and he can, at a push it seems, fill in there. It also seems to be why people who know * all about him want to declare him a flop!
    Lennon likes a versatile player and it makes sense having a player like this with the number of games we play. We also needed more depth at centre-half and he gives us that.

    By all accounts he's played as a CB the last three seasons, where he's played by far the best football of his career.

    If he's being signed as a RB it's as underwhelming as it gets. If he's being signed as a replacement for Jack Hendry it makes more sense.
