First time in a while we have real quality coming through Henderson, Johnston, Okoflex and Dembele all look like first team material then theres a few like Church, McInroy and Aitchison who could be and likely will end up at least SPL level players.

Feel like this type of thread appears every season.

We need to actually give them runs in the team.

The fact we’re spendng £3m plus on Turnbull when we’ve got Henderson there doesn’t really scream we’re going to give our youth a chance. And as long as we’ve got people like Hayes getting games ahead of players like Johnston and Church then we’ll never get close to the ‘Ajax model’ or anything similar.

I'd like to see some use of the young guys as back up, but let's not get carried away the majority of us wanted youngsters such as Johnston and the likes loaned out, not taking into the account Sevco beating a good portion of them in that final of the youth tournie.

I do think we should be getting rid of a lot of the older, experienced players who have been here for a long time and give some of the bhoys a go at times.

 

I think partly because of the players around him, if you are making great runs regularly you need team mates that can anticipate and read those runs to get the ball to you none of his loans been at a great level so far as I know so mibbes just needs a better class of player around him before he can really flourish.

We'll probably be able to fill most of the attacking player slots in a 25-man roster with our own talent. Defense and DM not so much. I guess youth defense coaches need replaced.

 

The vast majority of fans would understand and cut Lennon some slack if he was to play the youngsters in the LC.

Far more slack than if he lost the LC with the first team.

 

Who was the last goalscoring striker we produced? Forrest in the last few years has scored loads from the wing, but a proper out and out striker? Sheridan, Watt, Beattie, Burchill...no stand outs there. Are you going all the way back to Nicholas for that?

Hes no gonna risk loosing the chance of a quadtreble.

 

It is a decent shout in playing all youths on the LC, and it would keep the senior players fresh for hopefully big European games...

However, momentum is everything in football and its important for Lenny he wins it and its important not to give the Huns a sniff.

I don't agree. If we lose it playing a youth team, our first trophy loss in 3+ years, do you really think he will be cut any slack, especially if that lot were to win it?

I agree he would get plaudits for playing youth players in it, when they are winning. Right up to the point they don't.

It's too much of a gamble as I said. He needs to get off to a really positive start to get those that didn't want him on board, so he can't afford to be taking unneccesary risks. Doubly so if the CL qualifying campaign doesn't go according to plan. Next seaon, once he has got his feet in the door and everything is settled it's a different matter. That's how I see it at least.
