Broony's comments suggest there was at least some sort of discussion over game time.

David Turnbull is set to sign for Celtic - days after the club tweeted about the "magnificent offer" they made the player.


The Motherwell midfielder couldn't agree terms with the Scottish Champions on Friday which prompted the club to take to social media.

The tweets read: "#CelticFC was pleased to agree a record-breaking fee with Motherwell FC for David Turnbull and we have quickly followed this up with a fantastic offer to the player through his agent.

"Currently, we have been unable to come to an agreement with the player’s agent. #CelticFC is content that it has made a magnificent offer and it is now up to the agent and player to decide if the player wants to join Celtic. If not, we move on."

Celtic had agreed a £2.8million deal, which could rise to £3.2million, with the Steelmen.

However, according to the Scottish Sun, the 19-year-old is on the verge of agreeing to move to Parkhead, despite interest from England.

Turnbull had sought assurances that he would earn first-team football.

 

I would be staggered to learn that the agent has acted without his clients knowledge, so I think heaping all the blame onto the agent should be put to bed. An agent's job is to get the best possible deal for his client/player, after discussing the options with the client, so simply hating the agent is not going to help here either.
The problem is football is *. Earlier on, in this thread, we had people seriously saying that this kid should be given more cash ffs. If he has been offered anything like 10k a week he has won a watch already. Now if the player/agent want to chance their arm and ask for more that's up to them but we should not offer more. He has also asked for assurances regarding appearances, following the Mcginn path and that didn't go down very well with the Club initially. He would be better to let his football do the talking.

The agent and/or the player tried to call Celtics bluff for more cash

We play 60+ games a season , if the boys anywhere near good enough he will play 20plus minimum

 

We should not be back in the deal unless Turnbull sacked his agent. Fingers crossed the deal is officially called off.

Yeah I agree with this, for once I can’t knock the management regarding this transfer because they came out for once and told everyone what was going on.

Can’t believe I’m going to say this but they done the right thing!!!!!

Let’s hope this is a kick start to other transfers because we desperately need other positions filled before we looked to sign Turnbull.

Do we honestly think all that's going on is exclusive to the Turnbull deal?
FFS these issues are probably commonplace in most transfers. The situation is different here because Motherwell jumped the gun and made their announcement too early.
Let's hope the boy signs, does a good job scores a few goals and all will be forgotten.

Modern football is all about agents and player power, it’s not the 80’s and early 90’s anymore.

If the agent caused the deal to stall against the player's wishes, then the player must remove the obstacle. If he's on the same page with the agent- * them both. We have defenders to sign, first.

 

Yes we need defenders to sign but that’s not the lads fault is it?

Our management should have deals done for defenders, or should have put that first in the pecking order.

How the * can you blame this lad and his agent for us not buying defenders?

 

I can't, but the fact an AM is way down our list of needs means I have zero patience for the agrent, or the player.
