    THE sadness within the Celtic dressing room has remained with the sad news of Lisbon Lion, Stevie Chalmers’ death at the age of 83.

    Speaking for all of the players, captain Scott Brown said: “The Lisbon Lions hold a special place in the hearts of everyone at the club, and it is extremely sad that we are mourning the loss of Stevie Chalmers, coming so soon after Billy's death.

    “Stevie’s goal in Lisbon created football history, and it’s still a special moment for every supporter whenever we watch it again.

    “It’s incredible what Stevie and his team-mates achieved for Celtic, both in dominating Scottish football, but also in becoming the best team in Europe.

    “As well as being brilliant footballers, they also had an amazing team-bond, and you could always see that whenever they were together. They were lifelong friends, over and above having been Celtic team-mates, and my thoughts are with Stevie’s family and also the Lions at this time.

    “It’s a very sad time for the Celtic Family, too, and I know that every supporter will be devastated at the news of Stevie’s death. He and his team-mates were loved and adored by fans, and losing two of our legends in the space of a week is a terrible blow to everyone.

    “There have been some amazing goals scored by Celtic in our history, but one stands above all others, and that’s the one Stevie Chalmers scored in Lisbon. He will always be a club legend, a goalscoring hero and the man who scored our greatest ever goal. Rest in peace, Stevie
