I don’t think we have the pull that some of our fans think we do regarding managers. We got Rodgers because he’s from a Celtic family and he was looking to build his reputation back up, once he had he promptly left us. It’s pure fantasy thinking we can attract guys like Roberto Martinez or Marco Rose or Rafa Benitez, especially if he’s getting offers from teams like Marseille and Lyon. What we need is Lennon, a guy that loves the club, we can afford, can guide us to the 10 and won’t leave us high and dry in the middle of a season to move to a richer club

Jovic hasn’t signed for them permanently though, he is still on loan, they do have a clause to buy him but that will still be down to him accepting it.

I have to agree since Rodgers took over we have been very poor.

Maybe if we get park back we can sort out some gems but we do need to spend on quality at the back.

That’s kinda the way I see it. I think our next manager will only be here for two years as well, getting there will be insane pressure, even if it’s only coming from us.

I agree that Rafa is certainly out of reach - I think that Rose would have considered it if he hadn't got the Borussia job likewise Martinez if Belgium were not doing so well. I think BR's salary would certainly match Belgium or Borussia.

We all know that Lennon loves the club (it didn't stop him leaving in 2014 when IMO - he thought he would get the West Brom or Norwich jobs and got a dose of reality) but that has no relevance to his managerial ability. I don't think Klopp always loved Liverpool or Pep always loved Bayern or Man City - they are professionals who give 100% for whatever club they are at.

As someone else pointed out - if you look at the "fan" sites of the Huns and Aberdeen, they are hoping that Lennon gets the job because they don't rate him. I'm afraid that I agree with that - he was a disaster at Bolton and left Hibs in 8th place.

There are definitely some managers who are simply out of our price range - however, IMO, if DD is prepared to put together a realistic but decent package - we can certainly get a better manager than Lennon

Surely they’ve all spunked money at the same time? These things tend to balance out.

So many transfers fail here and it’s a combination of bad recruitment and the fact that you need to have the right mental attributes to play here. The demand to win is unlike anywhere else.

    Our recruitment isn't bad really.

    Bain
    Lustig Boyata Ajer Tierney
    Brown McGregor
    Rogic
    Forrest Edouard Sinclair

That 11 cost us £20m .. and Brown was years ago.

ROBERTO MARTINEZ has ruled himself out of the running to become Celtic boss.

And Andre Villas-Boas claims he has had no contact as Celts search for Brendan Rodgers’ successor.

Belgium gaffer Martinez has been linked with the Parkhead job, but agent Jesse De Preter said: “Roberto always seems to be on the shortlist as soon as there is a vacancy at a big club.

“But this is a false rumour about him going to Celtic. It seems to have come from the fact Roberto has a Scottish wife and obviously has ties to the country.

But there’s nothing to see here. I’d suggest the bookies review the odds.”

Villas-Boas’ agent Jean-Paul Lares shot down the link with Celtic — and then performed a U-turn hours later.

He said: “Andre has the deepest affection for both Scotland and the Scottish people and the fondest memories of the time he spent there.

“But we have received no offers from Scottish clubs and no decision has been made on his future, so there’s no way a valid comment can be made on this subject.”

AVB and Martinez have been heavily backed at the bookies as the race to replace Rodgers hots up.

Portuguese Villas-Boas, who bossed Chelsea and Spurs, is out of work after leaving Shanghai SIPG in 2017.

Interim manager Neil Lennon remains in pole position — but the board will consider others.

Using that as our recruitment the last few years is questionable, you can really only take Edouard Bain and Sinclair from that. But the big question is our squad out with our starting 11. That’s when the quality over quantity really kicks in.

Yeah we can improve certainly. I just don't think we're doing too badly having guys like Christie, Rogic, Ntcham, Forrest and Edouard knocking around when we spend * all.

Congerton has been a joke. We should do all we can to get Park back.

We should be looking for far better than Park as well.

We signed some amount of absolute * under him as well. Felt at times our signings were just any old * and flinging it at the wall and hoping it’d stick.

We need someone with an actual plan.

I voted for Lennon when the poll was first made but as much as I like him, I'm now not sure I want him as permanent manager. I wouldn't say no to Benitez but I'm not sure he'd be interested in a move up here. To be honest I really don't know who id want who'd realistically be interested.

This basically sums it up for me too. Ideally I'd love a European manager with good experience of the euro competitions, a manager that has progressed clubs and has a good record of developing players. Only problem with that is that they are in high demand and expensive and if PL is calling the shots on this appointment then I don't think he wil be prepared to spend the cash. Gonne be either Lenny or some journeyman from ingurland.

I’m starting to think you need a season ticket for the Camp Nou. :fear:

A.V.B seems like an arrogant * that falls out with players and Chairman.
I think he would be an absolute disaster.
Would want a massive wage and budget too, so I doubt him and Lawwell would get on.
