Fair, lazy answer. He's a 6 ft 3 defensive mid that keeps possession very well and breaks up play. Can win possession and score goals with his height. Away in Europe he'd be a * send for us.

But, a young guy being able to hold his own in the man utd midfield and folk saying he's not good enough for us is a little ridiculous do you not think?

Nah last guy who held down a spot at United then came to us was Tyler Blackett. People were excited just because he played a bit for them the season before and he was utter gash.

Always judge by the footballer not the team. I’ve not seen much of him so can’t comment that wise, I just can’t see it just for the sheer fact Mourinho likes him

He hasn't scored a professional goal.

I think you're exaggerating the prestige of being a Man Utd player. I give you Tyler Blackett. And Darren Gibson. And James Wilson. And Paddy McNair.

Man Utd have a long history of average academy players getting games then being sold for decent fees.

He always had something about him, pace mainly. Only 22, not overly surprised. Will be surprised if he goes to a bigger club though.

As for McTominay, no thank you. Not even sure I would take him as a perm deal, let alone a loan. They won't be selling him to us if he has a half decent season, would completely stiffle our own players. Specially when McGregor, Brown and Ntcham will all be ahead of him constantly.

True, being at man utd doesn't obviously mean you're a great player, and as he's just had maybe ten starts he's not proven. However, I'd suggest that he has played when there were established players who were fit and he was picked infront of rather due to injuries so mourinho must see a real player in him. Mourinho is not known for throwing youngsters in for no reason.

He's not going to score wondergoals and get assists every day but he is a big physical presence who keeps possession. Our problem in Europe is we don't have enough players who can keep the ball under pressure, and he can do it.

He's not an exciting player, but our problem is we have players who are naturally attacking, mainly due to the league we play in. I'd say we'd be stronger in Europe with brown and mctominay in DM keeping the ball and breaking up play and letting the forwards do their thing.

Ha, thought he'd scored from a corner.

I can't see any possibility of loan with option to buy - in which case what is the point in this?

Too easy for sky just to throw in Scotland there. For obvious reasons.

Why can't we just go out an sign a midfielder instead of loans if were interested in one , the money was supposedly there for McGinn in the summer before we even sold Dembele for 20m. but failed to materialise. now so far we only spent 2m on a striker and 2 loans.

Another Sky Sports exclusive. McTominay would be a perfect signing at any time.

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has emerged as a potential target to help Celtic's bid for this season's championship, if a loan move is sanctioned by his parent club in the coming days.

Previously a favourite of Jose Mourinho, the 22-year-old Scotland man has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford with his only league appearance under United interim boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer coming in the final minute of Sunday's win at Tottenham.

McTominay needs regular football to ensure he doesn't stagnate - a scenario that's again piqued Celtic's interest in him.

But no move will happen until there's clarification over the future of fellow midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

After months of negotiations, the 31-year-old Belgium international signed a new two-year deal in June.

However, Fellaini has started only one Premier League game since United were defeated at Manchester City on November 11.

One obvious issue would be Fellaini's wages, meaning that if he was to move, it would only be for a longer contract.

Provided he stays put, McTominay is likely to be farmed out with Celtic among a number of clubs on both sides of the border monitoring his situation.

Rodgers has already signed Timothy Weah, Vakoun Issouf Bayo and Oliver Burke this month with a deal for defender Andrew Guzman believed to be in the pipeline.

Record sport understands nothing , the same rag that has Ntcham on a plane to porto due to midfield wealth.

What would we need him for?
