I agree, difficult to drop Forrest last season he was excellent and he has been one of our better players this season, but i still think Roberts is the better player and in plenty of games he'd be a better option than Forrest purely because he creates something out of nothing.

 

it was one of those unfortunate situations last season. Paddy needed matches to build fitness but Jimmy was too good to drop.

He could have tried dropping Sinclair and accomodating Paddy either on the left or Jimmy. He could not drop Forrest for him though.

 

Roberts ending up in League One or the Championship

People are letting his unfortunate last season with us forget how brilliant he was. Under Deila he was a breath of fresh air, in the invincible season especially towards the end he was the best player in the team. Even though Forrest was brilliant we still missed his guile, influence and creativity a lot last season. When Paddy got a run of games and hit form he was easily the most influential player this side had.

He does strike me as a bit of the lazy type though. Seems like he could go really far in the game if he applied himself a wee bit more. Age is on his side though and I'd gladly take him back.

 

Would pay 10m for him easy. Cracking player.

 

Not having him has definitely impacted on Forrest that’s for certain.
But if he had the quality to displace Forrest he would have done whether he was on form or not.
As many seem to think this boy is verging on World Class going by the wankfest that should have been easy for Roberts.
Girona are relegation fodder playing in front of less than 7k fans at home and would struggle in the Championship in England.... and he can’t get a start. Potential unfulfilled will be the story of his career as I don’t think he has enough fight in him to displace so-called inferior players.

I think we will see his level soon enough.

 

He has got more Champions League proper goals than Forrest, in how many appearances less? Judging him on an injury hit season is a bit mental I think.

 

To be fair, there could be a number of reasons he isn’t being selected just now.

 

He’s playing for Girona because City own them not because that’s his level

They finished 10th last season 7 points away from Europe so no they’re not relegation fodder

 

Girona just drew 2-2 with Barca at the nou camp and finished 10th last season.

 

We should go get him, not getting any game time.

 

Would love to see that happen. £5m plus a sell-on fee seems like a good deal.

 

All well and good saying go get him BUT does he actually really want to be here.
