Haven't seen highlights of the game but from where I was sitting it looked very soft. Dublin would of won anyway, Tyrone ran out of ideas second half, no shame in losing to this Dublin team in fairness

JP McManus has donated €100,000 to every Gaelic Games county board in Ireland to be divided equally among their local clubs.

The €3.2million gesture has been made on the back of Limerick’s All-Ireland Hurling Championship win this year

McManus has been a main sponsor of Limerick GAA for years and is heavily involved in sport, including horse racing and the upcoming JP McManus Pro-Am at Adare Manor in July 2020.

A letter to each county board has said the intention is for the continued development of Gaelic Games in the country.

A spokeperson for the GAA has described it as "unprecedented" and an "incredible gesture".

    London must be * off:56:

I don't understand what these guys are complaining about, and how they perceive Hurling to be as better watch.

I only discovered Gaelic Football about 20 years ago, and have only watched it regularly for the last 5 years or so (when Sky's coverage made it available here), but I love it. Personally I enjoy the tactical battle, and teams passing the ball around and having to breakdown defences rather than just hoof long balls into the forwards. To me it's the equivalent of Barca's tiki-taka style, which is far more interesting and compelling than route one football.

Whilst I accept Hurling is a game of amazing skill, it does seem to be a game where the players either shoot points from the halfway line, or hit long balls into the forwards. There's very little intricate short passing.

    Am I missing something?

The demise of Gaelic football especially in Ulster due to defensive tactics!! One wonders what kind of dour games are witnessed in Donegal the supposed home of the blanket defence.

Donegal Championship quarter final result: Gaoth Dobhair 8-13 Bundoran 3-12
Bundorans star forward Jamie Brennan was held scoreless.

Gaelic football is still alive and well at grassroots level

Your missing the chip on the shoulder factor as it is Dublin who are so dominant. As soon as Dublin lose an All Ireland and of course it will happen the game will be declared to be back and what an exciting year that was. When Kerry's great team of the late 70's and 80's was dominating nobody was talking like this. Nor where they in hurling when Kilkenny were so dominant during the 00's and early part of this decade. The ideal that Hurling is in great shape over football when many parts of the country cannot field teams that are even remotely competitive is laughable. The entire province of Ulster hurling is a joke in bar maybe Antrim. The entire province of Connacht bar Galway Hurling is a joke in.

Because there wasn't any chip on the shoulder when Ulster teams were winning all Irelands. Cynical Armagh. Boring Donegal & Tyrone.

I wouldn't expect you to say any different.

Ulsters dominance in the 2000's was greeted by mostly negative comments from the media and constant calls for changes in the rules. How dare these upstarts upset the Munster/Leinster dominance. It was during this time we had constant talk of how Gaelic football was being ruined and constant calls for changes in the rules.

Yet very little was ever mentioned about how the Ulster teams had the most difficult route to an all Ireland final. Nowhere was there talk of an open draw which would make it more difficult for the traditional powerhouses of Dublin, Meath:giggle1:, Kerry and Cork:giggle1: to make it to an all Ireland semi final

Just to simplify matters and perhaps stifle the debate I will come at this from a different angle.

Ulster teams will always back one another because of the way we feel we are treated by the rest The most bitter of rivals can put it aside when meeting a team from outside the province. This "paranoia" must have stemmed from somewhere. Note I did not dispute your "chip on the shoulder" comment because I have not walked a mile in your shoes.

Not sure about Ulster teams backing each other when playing teams from outside the province. I can tell you that, as a Derry fan, few things in life give me greater pleasure than seeing Tyrone thumped, regardless of where the opposition comes from. I work with fans of Antrim, Down and Armagh who would hold the same view.

Just to clarify my earlier post. When I say that I enjoy watching Tyrone get thumped I include their U17, U20 and Senior football teams, their Ladies football teams at all grades, their hurlers, their camøgs, their club teams (junior, intermediate and senior) and their colleges teams.
