Our club doesn't need DD to put his hand in his pocket. We are financially sound to invest a small amount. £5-£10m

Maybe we don’t actually need him to sign a check but we do need him to pick up the phone and tell Peter to get it fckn done

just be careful what you wish for bhoys, Man U have thrown money at it and if anything its getting worse for them. If Boyata stays I can't see us bringing anyone in.

And Man City really * up spending all that money on a goalkeeper and full backs.

Man U have the most over rated manager around. That’s their issue and nothing to do with us desperately needing to spend.

The people who compare Celtic to EPL clubs are like those who say if we spend money we will end up like the deid club - not a chance of comparison they deid club chucked it cause they avoided paying duties!!!

Man utds issues stem to from bad recruitment both on and off the field.
At no time in the tenure of the last three managers has any of them got the beat out of the group of players they were working with.

Wonder if it's a case of us getting £5m or thereabouts once we confirm EL, maybe it was double for CL.

Maybe BR was given around £10m at the start and decided on Ed.

And guessing if we fail then we don't spend anything else.

I wouldn't think so mate, Edouard fee was paid in last years accounts and covered by VVD, Armstrong and Erik cash with some serious reserves.

We can get £12m from the EL but we also have £30m plus cash sitting in the bank!

First season Brendan spent close to £14m from July 2016 - June 2017 with income of £2.2m
Last season Brendan spent (going by reports) £14m with income of £16.2m (all will be confirmed in the accounts shortly) obviously that's including £7.5m for VVD.
So far this summer our spend is £0 - going on those accounts in the 2 years Brendan has been here was are have spent £9.6m on players nett and added £25m (to 31/12/17 to the cash at bank).

I get the feeling that if we do bring anyone in it will be last minute, as in on the 31st.

We're normally fairly cautious in terms of bringing new signings into the first team so I can't see anyone signed now playing either on Thursday or Sunday. Had we sold Boyata when we had the £9m offer on the table it would've freed up some cash and forced our hand in terms of strengthening the defence. That decision is going to haunt me for a while I think :giggle1:

    Agreed.

With Boyata in the team you would probably be hoping for a new centre back and right back. Without Boyata, two new centre backs and a right back. That was before he threw his toys out the pram of course.

I’m not getting my hopes up. I wouldn’t be surprised if we got a token, low quality, last minute signing and that was it.

I'll be surprised if we manage to bring in 1 player let alone the 3/4 BR was talking about. Let's face it if the club couldn't get new faces in for the CL qualifiers, with months to get the deals done and a £40M prize on offer, then it's hard to imagine them being willing or able to get us what we need in the next 3 days.
