Brendan has spoken at length in the interview , it's now a matter of principle that McGinn gets delivered.

I don't give a * about it. What will be will be. Hibs want to play games let them. What i'm really interested in though is this chat of £2.1million, that's probably designed to wind us up.
Why get * off at our own board, i don't see the point in it, but it's a natural reaction. Of course if we'd been told £2.1million was the price we'd have paid it.
So if it happens great, if not i'm not for losing sleep over a deal that Hibs just point blank refused to deal, which means there are better ways to get them back and that is by boycotting Hibs away games for the foreseeable future.because they can only fund cheap players and that knowledge is easily hacked, at least some of the time.
Just take £2.1million and intercept every mother * they try to sign, lol. Or just go and offer the £4million for someone that's more likely to sit on the bench.

Don’t need to boycott them. Just stop loaning them players. The biggest two players in their cup success were ours, Stokes and Henderson.
We’ve also gave them Allan, Efe and Mcgeoch. * them, they’ll no be getting any more.

They'll sell for the right price. We don't get to tell them what that is when there's other interested parties prepared to pay more.

As said before, innumerable times, the only people who will stop the 10 is Celtic.

I'm still totally indifferent to John McGinn as a player and I would not be remotely disappointed to miss out on him.

However, that's no longer the issue here. The manager is now openly expressing his displeasure at the fact he's about to miss out on an easily affordable player he identified to the board as a priority signing. That's grim.

I worry about the implications of all of this.

You don't envisage a scenario in which Villa offer same amount as us, but Hibs only accept their offer? Either way, I'm * off with our board regarding this and not having any new defenders coming in.

Nope, but I certainly see them accepting the highest offer they get.

I'm not particularly fussed on signing McGinn, but don't like people trying to deflect the blame onto everybody but ourselves for this.

Even taking that into consideration, I do think Petrie dislikes us.

This, has been said many times already, only ones who can stop us winning 10 is us. Complete joke if BR wanted him and we won't pay 4 million for a Scottish international on the rise.. shambles

I'll be honest and say losing mcginn doesn't really bother me, but it's clear he's a top target for rodgers and it's a little bit disappointing he's not getting the lad, but the transfer isn't done yet so there's still time.

There’s nothing wrong with playing hardball in all honesty. This isn’t the first time we’ve played it too close to the bone and seen it cost us though. I think if McGinn was on his way to Villa for £4m, most would be reasonably accepting of our transfer approach, if not entirely delighted to be missing out. When you see the fee reported is £2.1m though....there’s a fine line between playing hardball and being stubborn that we don’t always err on the right side of.
