Just a bit of fun. There's no doubt Rodgers has built a squad that is going places. One of my favourite groups of players in years. But Lennon and Strachan were both up against a more competitive league. With that in mind, it would be interesting to compare say the team that played on Sunday, against hunskelping teams of bygone times.

    Rodgers XI
Bain, Boyata, Simunovic, Ajer, Tierney, Brown, Ntcham, Forrest, Rogic, McGregor, Dembele
Subs: Hendry, Roberts, Sinclair, Armstrong, Edouard, Doohan, Musonda

Lennon's XI that skelped the huns 3-0 in 2011
Forster, Izaguirre, Majstorovic, Wilson, Mulgrew, Brown, Ledley, Kayal, Samaras, Commons, Hooper
Subs: Zaluska, Juarez, Rogne, Ki Sung-Yeung, McCourt, Stokes, Forrest

Strachan's XI that beat the huns 2-1 in 2008
Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, Nakamura, Hartley, Robson, McGeady, McDonald, Vennegoor of Hesselink
Subs: Mark Brown, McGowan, Sno, Donati, Balde, Wilson, Samaras

IMO, match any of these three teams together and you've got a tight game. Folk slated the Caldwell/McManus defense but they had a decent record. Also I would not want to see McGeady or Nakamura running against our current defence, especially with Big Jan in the mix waiting for a cross.

Hooper, Commons and Sammy would also terrorise our current defence. Put it this way, both of these teams are better than the XI Rangers put out on Sunday. We'd have a hard time against Lennon's defence as well, given how well drilled he had them.

But on their day, the current XI would beat either of those teams. A hallmark of all these sides is the never-say-die attitude. But Rodger's side in particular has a knack for creating goals when they really need to. With Strachan and Lennon there were games where if things went wrong there never seemed to be a way out. I think Rodgers would get the better of either of them tactically. The Strachan XI would be beaten hands down. I think if Lennon had that team playing their best it would be a really competitive, end-to-end, high scoring game.

Theres a lot of match winners in the Lennon team, would be a good game I think. Other than big Kelvin though the defence lacks pace and Forrest, KT, Dembele and Édouard would rinse them at the back.

Strachan's team was solid, and had poaching strikers in the box with quality out wide. Sort of team that would cause us problems right now, again though I couldn't see that defence keeping out our attacking players, but they managed it in Europe when I didn't fancy them either so wee Gordon could possibly have upset Brendan.

Our squad could learn a thing or two from both about how to defend, turns out we're better at defending with just the 10 men :giggle1:

Lennon’s team was so solid. They’d beat Rodgers’ team 7 times out of 10.

Current side has the best attack by some distance.

Ajer would get into Lennon's side, as would Tierney.

Lennon's team would probably be the strongest overall, as defense was of at least equal ability to the attack, and this makes a strong team.

Rodgers teams attacking would be too much for a Strachan or Lennon team to cope with , He did the same at Liverpool with Suarez,Sturridge and Sterling with pace power and movement broke the record in 2 leagues with goals scored.

Oneills team would give us a right game probably overpower us and had more streetwise players all over the park especially in defense.

If Celtic the noo, had two quality CB then I would tip the current squad.

Strachan had the same problem at CB.

So I would go for Lennys.

    If i was going 4-4-2
    Boruc
    Hinklel Bobo heid Tierney
    Nakamura brown(under rodgers) ntcham McGeady
    edouard dembele

i liked Lennons team but don't think he had anywhere near the quality perhaps if van dijk was included in the squads he'd have taken Caldwells place no bother

If it’s a Lenny XI with both Van * and Wanyama it’d be very hard to see by that.

Ahhh, I was just taking it as Lenny’s teams. Wanyama’s one of the first guys that springs to mind when you think of his teams.
