I would imagine there's plenty going on behind the scenes as putting out all our interests in public will only attract interest from other clubs to our targets.

Apart from McGinn who's been publicly courted most of our business is usually done under the radar, the club usually seal the deal before the press get a sniff.

Sorry, please point out the solid additions we've made to RB, LB, CB x 2, RW, LW? Not to mention a GK to challenge Gordon.

If he was so much better than anything we’ve got then he’d be first choice CB for Feyenoord, not shunted out to right back.

He wouldn’t be a starter for us. He’s older than Ajer and Ajer is already a lot better.

    This.

And its exactly what sutton said in his column today.
The world cup didnt sneak up on us. We knew our two right backs and centre half were going to be missing for these games.

3rd season in a row now we're going into these games with a patchwork backline and its simply unacceptable.

First season aye BR gets a pass. Second season ok you should know the craic here mate. Were getting duffed in europe again here.

What did we get... KNOWING the WC was around the corner and we had 4...4 fixtures to navigate this summer.

We got a 33 year old surplus to requirements player and a dundee guy who has NEVER played a full season of football and farmed out on loan by a league one side.

Keeper crisis? Perfect opportunity to at last splash a wee, wee bit of cash and bring in a young keeper with proven quality to challenge gordon. Nope. Scott Bain.

I love Br... love the *.

    But this sheer negligance.

Hard to argue with any of that. For a club that likes to project an image of competent management and strategic planning we've been utterly negligent in addressing squad weaknesses. There's an element of hot hand fallacy at play, I suspect.

A back 3 of Boyata Ajer and Schaar would be good, but would prefer an experienced, proven CB in there as well.

Really need to invest in a young goalie too.

This could be a club led policy but it strikes me that Rodgers will tend to gravitate towards young players or players down on their luck. I think he feels more comfortable working with players like this who would be in theory more receptive to his mindset and methodolgy. It may be an ego thing with him but turning players around and player progression is clearly what motivates him the most.

He may talk about only signing real quality etc but he's in hot pursuit of Mcginn a young guy who many believe not better than what we have. He made many of the same noises in January before settling on a young unproven in Hendry, a pre contract for another young player in Morgan, an out of the picture 30 something and a reserve team goalie. If you look at all his dealings here it's always been the same.

I don't think we'll ever see him in his time here spend 6/7 million on an experienced proven international 27 year old for example despite it being what alot of fans crave. I know many will point the finger at the club here but for me BR is guilty of this transfer policy as much the club may be. Basically, for those wanting us to spalsh out on top end defensive options. It ain't happening.

Edit: Many might see this as detrimental to the club but it is one of the major reasons that he is so happy up here. He is completely in his element here knowing that he can operate this way. Something he would never get away with in the EPL. It will be a huge factor in why we will hold on to him for so long.

Cause you don’t get that these days.

Check the state of Everton, £50m for some diddy who hasn’t scored since November!

If we got an experienced, proven international for £6m Id be astonished.

I just want quality in. Not fussed on the age as Edouard, Dembele and Ntcham prove.

Just speculate a bit more and we will get the rewards.

Well that could be true but I'm sure there is players of that profile out there. Maybe not from the major nations but definitely outside of that. The Swiss CB Schar was available for around 5million I believe and there will be others like him.

The EPL is a totally different ball game. Its a circus down there, they've lost the plot. They'll happily throw 30mill+ at each other for bang average players.

The CB version of Ntcham would be ideal..(difficult to find but not impossible) a certain pedigree but with still some development..
