There is mate. The book is actually a non-fiction book looking at trans national crime particularly over the last 20 or so years with the break up of the Soviet Union. The drama on the BBC is a fictional account based on some of the real life characters and stories from the book.

    Reading Stephen Kings IT.

Bought it years ago but at 1200 odd pages seemed a bit daunting, finally giving it a go, 100 or so pages in not too bad so far. Although i think King has a tendency to overstuff his books with needless “fleshing out” of the characters.

Anyone read this? How did you rate it compared to his others?

My personal favourite of his is “The Tommyknockers”.

I've got it but not started it.

I've tried reading a couple of Kings books but I just didn't like his style at all.

Desperate to read IT though because everyone raves about it.

I know what you mean, he can draw things out for longer than needed, it can get tedious.

Think hes one that you need to invest the time in his books and they more often than not pay off.

Aye, I've read similar styles as well, one paragraph on the story then next paragraph on the past, different character or whatever.

Just feels like you could half the length and not lose anything to the story.

Looking for a good series. Something along the lines of Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp & Repairman Jack. Any ideas?

Currently working through Andy Weirs latest. Quite enjoying it so far! Very different narrative from The Martian but it reads similarly.

Finished Niamh O'Connor's Taken. A crime drama novel which was pretty average really. First time I had read anything from the author.

Don't think it's anything like them but if you're wanting a new series to start then Stieg Larsson's Millenium series is outstanding. (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo)
