The thing is that figure is not far-fetched now either. 2/3 years ago we would be wishing for that to be spent but we really need to send out a message that the SPL is not our peak. Players coming in should be first team ready primarily.

2 CL qualifications in a row and now around £7M extra cash that was not previously accounted for. The money is there to get 2/3 quality players.

 

Hopefully Bitton as well. Far too slow as a defensive midfielder (looks lethargic, cannot press the ball), far too soft as a centre-half.

 

100% with the large chunk being spent in this window.

They don't have a leg to stand on if they don't strengthen the side, we have the money, like a good few of us have said we did not spend much in the summer, net spend was next to nothing and we desperately need players in.

Be criminal of we only sign a centre the centre half and then some youth players. We need signings who will walk into the first team.

 

I would rather see him at centre half than Boyata.

 

I honestly wouldn't be getting my hopes up for Janauray window, big Marv is a good start and everything but I would expect more of the same in the terms of searching for cheap gems.

Unless one of Erik, Jozo or Boyata is sold I don't see another CB joining our ranks, there is always the risk of Moussa being sold as well if you want to believe everything in the news so in worst case scenario I would hope Rodger's has already got a permanent replacement lined up as he'll be difficult to replace.

All I would ask for if Dembele is sold is a solid replacement and a GK to take Gordon's place.

 

We need a goalkeeper, another centre half and a right back, all ready to come right in to the team. Everywhere else we are covered.

I expect us to sell one of Jozo or Erik and probably Gamboa as well

 

We have Compper coming in, he will probably replace Sviatchenko (number-wise). We also have the emergence of Ajer, who at the moment feels like a new signing. We probably don't need another CB, especially with Bitton being able to play there - that's 5 options at CB, 7 if you include Tierney and Lustig who can play either side of a back 3.

Definitely would love another GK, but don't think we'll see one.

Same with RB. Lustig still has plenty to offer, Gamboa is still an option, and Ralston is on his way back to match fitness.

 

I agree that numbers wise we won't need a new centre half but I'm not confident any of our current centre halfs are good enough to take us further in Europe.

You're right about the goalkeepers too, both Gordon and De Vries signed new contracts this season unfortunately so that looks to be a position Brendan is happy with. Fingers crossed he changes his mind but

We probably have enough cover at right back and I'd need to see more of ralston but I'm going off the assumption that we'll lose Gamboa.

 

One centre back for Europe we really should look at Italy it really is cb and gk we need to strengthen if dembele goes you use that money to strengthen that area of the pitch

Mate if Dembele goes you look for a replacement for Dembele not a CB, as that would leave us with just Griff if Edouard is never signed and that is nothing going to be great for europe either

 

Read my post carefully haha I was meaning dembele area of the pitch celtic should have enough money now after van dijk money to go out and get a centre back who's available for europa

I wonder how much the VVD money will factor in the window. Def looking to strengthen at back with an experienced centre half for Europa. If Dembele goes, I'd be looking for a like for like replacement.
