    "Marvin Compper, a 32-year-old German defender at RB Leipzig, was over in Glasgow earlier this week for a look around. I am told he was pleased with what he saw, and talks are ongoing.

    "Brendan Rodgers was criticised for not having an extra centre-back during the Champions League campaign, and Celtic are pretty positive that he will sign in January.

    "The fee will be round about £1m, but the deal has still to be done. It is a break from Celtic's usual policy - they usually got for younger players - but they want to bring in someone who can help bring on the younger players."

    A further exemption applies: one player per club who would normally be cup-tied can be registered and eligible to play, so long as his previous club did not field him in the same competition. This means that players can represent two different clubs in the Europa League and Champions League, but only a maximum of one player per club. However, if the first club switches into the same competition (e.g. transfers from the Champions League to the Europa League through finishing third in the group stage), the transferred player becomes ineligible

    Seen him a few times, we need a experienced CB to steady the back 4, we are strong everywhere else. Only mistake BR has made in not signing a solid CB at the start of the season.

    One thing I will say is he doesn't look that well built physically. Quite skinny looking for a CB.

    Only has 69 physical on FIFA which backs up my shaky observation :56:
