Actually thought at one time that his distribution had improved but now seems to be going backwards. Seems so lazy when he is looking to pass the ball out.

Yes I hate that wee ball he plays short straight into midfield complete potential leg breaker if you are not expecting it

Gordon’s doing what he’s being told to, BR said that after the St Johnstone goal at CP. Still lost the confidence of a lot of the support.
No as bad as some of Neuer’s bombscares.

I've noticed that as a team we are just not as fluent in working the ball out from the back over the last 5-10 games. Perhaps need to work on this aspect some more. Granted that Gordon's choices and actual execution was poor yesterday but he is generally pretty decent at handling the ball at his feet now.

That's mostly down to the changing back line, yesterday we had Bitton back in who hadn't played in weeks so took 20mins to get comfortable on taking the ball out from the back, Lustig switched to centre half, Gamboa in and out etc. Also more teams are starting to press us further up the pitch.

    I think you're all mental.

He's doing what his manager is asking him to do - not what HE wants to do. I'm sure if he was left to his own devices then he would hoof the ball up the middle of the park just like he did before he joined us. It's only so noticeable when one of his passes goes astray because the pressure is straight on us.

I get it. We don't want this to happen! But let's face * reality here!

Watch the 'proper passers' in the team - the midfielders. See how many VERY easy passes they screw up. Watch the defenders - the goalkeepers protectors... see how many times they play the ball to CG when there were relatively straightforward options ahead of them, but they either, a) didn't see the pass (bad!), or b) bottled taking the responsibility of playing the forward pass (bad!).

Watch 'The Master' Sweeper-Keeper Neuer... we tend to only get to see his skills, but he's had his fair share of brain-farts and downright *-ups over the years.

But CG - a 34 year old trying his best to play in an unfamiliar way that the the manager wants him to play, or being given responsibility for forward play by Defenders who aren't under pressure, or haven't seen a pass, get's * pelters.

    Unbelievable!

Armchair * experts! Have to have a fall guy! Seem's CG has taken that mantle.

CG has 2 weaknesses - he can occasionally get a rush of blood to the head and sprint out of his area for 1 on 1's, and he should claim more cross-balls.

Other than that, he is a very good goalkeeper!

    Passing!? * off!

    Armchair experts?

There's a reason why Rodgers through the gauntlet down to him to improve his passing, because he knows that's what it takes to be a modern-day goalkeeper.

    So weesht.

With Jozo not giving us a few months without injury and Erik well out the picture, a centre half is crucial in January.

Thankfully by January we’ll have 2 x 35+ year old keepers and it’ll be a natural thing to want a long term solution put in place as well.

LOL... didn't see the Manuel Neuer compilation of brain-farts earlier in the thread. CG would have been hung drawn, quartered, and had his P45 demanded for for ANY of those spectacular *-ups.

Listen bhoys - cut him some slack... he's doing ok. The minute a player starts feeling the wrath of a section of support, then it does him (and therefore us!) no good whatsoever. It could lead to a general decline in his confidence, then a dip in his performance and then his eventual sale / dismissal that some (somehow) seemingly want.

But that process will cost us points... and places in tournaments.

He's a good keeper - fantastic shot-stopper - but he has his flaws (as all players do). The bottom line though is that he's done us (much) more good than bad!

Did he not win a public vote for 'Best PL Save Ever'.

No I don't think so - he will look to play out but when it is absolutely not on - long ball to moussa is an option

That would also discourage the other team from always pushing up which would allow us to play out from back

That option isn't really available when griff playing
