Pool players?

Anyone pool players in here?

I have a 7ft x 4ft table arriving soon,with 2 x 57" cues and 2" Balls

I was looking to add American Balls to the table (Aramith Spots and Stripes) They are in 2 1/4 " in size so im also buying 2 x American Cues (13mm tip)

So i have a set of 2 inch balls for english and using 8mm tips......and adding American 2 1/4 balls and using 13 mm Tips for the cues

Is this correct? There aint many pool player forums i can ask.


Also my old man used to play snooker so im thinking of adding 2 " snooker balls to the table......Am i right in saying you only have 10 reds?

 

There's 15 reds in snooker mate.

 

lol yeah i know that, but on a pool table im pretty sure you only use 10....might be wrong though

The big question is can you shoot backwards with the white after it's been potted?

See, I'm sure my brother made up that rule years ago just to * me over once against him. Ever since then I'd considered it a proper rule!

 

Some people do play it as a rule, but I'm fairly sure it's not in the 'official' rules.

Where I come from 2 shots carry. Assuming this rule also applied in Glasgow was a mistake.

 

There's different rules in different places. In The Renfrewshire pool league 2 shots didn't carry but in Ayrshire they do plus you have to nominate your bag for the black

 

Online rules are totally different again

 

What does this rule mean?

Usually play 2 shots after a foul, and can't play the ball backwards. White placed in the semi circle at the line

 

You get two shots after the foul but if you can 'carry' the two shots it means you keep the 2nd shot for when you miss.

So you can take your first shot and pot a couple of balls, then when you miss you still have the '2nd' shot. You're basically carrying the 2nd shot forward until you miss.

At major 8 ball competitions the 2 shot carry is used but down the boozer on a Friday night they definitely don't.

 

What's this about nominating a pocket for the black, do you lose if it drops in another pocket.

Played some huns from Cambuslang at pool and an argument started as they said they had a rule on the black..if someone pots the white they can then position white anywhere when on black ball finish. Get that to *.
