We need a CB in on a permanent, no excuses.

City seem to have all these promising young guys like Denayer who they keep sending out on loans for experience, these guys will probably be lucky to see 1st team action over an extended period as City buy in proven players instead of giving them a run for fear of losing games.

Deneyer would be a good stop gap filler at CB. We know what he is capable of, and he is superior to Sviatchenko, and would give real competition to Boyata. I would be all for this if it materialises.

A loan for Denayer would scream off a panic buy after the Coetzee deal fell through..

There is a big question mark over his attitude but we have all seen his ability, the Sunderland fans complained of his attitude too, meaning this would be a big risk. A few days ago I would have been dead set against this but we desperately need a decent defender in, so if Brendan thinks he can get him back to his best then I'm on board.
I would recommend we try to get a loan with a view to a permanent and with a set fee. It would give the player an incentive, which his attitude suggests he needs and the fee would represent quite a risk for us. At this stage Citeh are probably happy to have him elsewhere.

Absolute disgrace that we're in this position, we've known we were short in defence for weeks and it looks like we'll be relying on a loan right before the window ends.

Probably. Girona have been taken over by the man city owner i think so they obviously must be trying to help them out

how would signing someone on loan who we know to be of a good enough quality to cover the time it takes to sign our preferred target be a 'panic buy'?

its the complete opposite of that

No not for me when he left last time he was quick to bad mouth Celtic and the league he has went to other clubs been found out now that Celtic have a good manager in place with a good young progressing squad with champions league football on top of that hes open to a return nope would rather buy another CB and im a bit weary as to why Celtic are open to bringing in a CB on loan rather than buying Roberts i get fully but we need permanent players in aswell as a ST we have the money give BR the backing he deserves

You would expect us to have permanent backup targets to Coetzee, not go once again straight to City for a loan.

If we do bring in Denayer, and Eduoard, we may as well change the language at the club to French :56:
Haha he didn't bad mouth Celtic at all, ever.

I doubt Coetzee was coming in to start games, he was probably coming in as a promising squad player. Denayer would be our best centre-half.

I think we will get him. Deneyer loves it here, and Brendan would make him a better player. He would be a natural fit, hit the ground running player, and no worries about him.

With a loan deal, we'd only proceed to lose our best CB next summer.

We need a stable center half partnership for once..

coetzee likely has a short-term injury. if he is the player that rodgers wanted above anyone else, then why move on completely? a short-term cover makes perfect sense if rodgers wants to go back in for him
