Why are people so desperate for us to spend money?
If we can get them on a loan first then it will be much better overall.

With Denayer, it's clear City don't fancy him so if he comes here on loan and fits into BR way of thinking and playing, then we'll be able to sign him on a permanent this time next year. We know he did well here before but that was under different management/style of play, and he had VVD beside him, so there's no guarantee he'd be a success again. Best get him on loan first to see how he gets on.
He can also play at RB so that's a huge advantage too.

As for Paddy, to get a player of his quality for 2 and a half years for basically no transfer fee is amazing business. And we still have a chance of making it permanent next year.

And as for the striker on loan, we only need cover for when both our strikers are injured so no decent player will want to come and be 3rd choice, it would be a waste of a wage having two top strikers sitting on the bench.
Best to get a young prospect on loan who is willing to develop under BR and happy to only play a handful of first team games.

Because the amount of money we put in to the club we deserve permanent signings! All the loans might play incredible for a season then go back to their own clubs or sign elsewhere. You can't plan for the long term team if you are only loaning players. I'll be ragin if we don't sign a centre back permanently

there is absolutely nothing wrong with loan deals if thats what these are

paddy practically said himself we tried to buy him but city said no. the club still pressed ahead with the loan deal because he is the player brendan wanted, and by many accounts the club even paid a loan fee which is as much as we have even paid for some first team players in recent years

brendan's first choice CB is unable to join at this stage on medical grounds, so denayer potentially comes in on loan to fill the gap until the club goes back in for coetzee

eduoard on loan would be another good decision because we get a year to assess him as a potential replacement for dembele. we dont need to buy another striker until dembele leaves, but we do need some temporary cover until the promising youths we have in that position are ready to make the step up

And if the strikers is a success then ready made replacement for dembele when he finally leaves..... I don't see psg holding onto edouard after the loan

Can think of a lot of players I'd have rather we got on loan to assess them, think it's smart.

The list is endless for ourselves spending money on expensive duds, this is maybe the way we have to think now with the inflation in the game. If it's now £3million to £6million for a potential Fortune, Scepovic, N'Guemo, Tonev, Wakaso, Pukki (PARTY) :fear:, Balde, etc. then maybe the club see's it more fitting to loan players, if they are special (Paddy :35:) then we are in a better position to fork out money, knowing they've been tried and tested.

ALERTA *** THIS IS JUST MY OPINION *** ATTENTION ***

edit - Forgot N'Guemo was a loan, PRIME EXAMPLE, of how a loan helped us.

Loan with option to buy is the way. Sick of nurturing talent and letting them go at the end of the season am taking about you Paddy.

This would be perfect all round. Would easily pay 5m if he rediscovers his past Celtic form.

Wouldn't be against the 3rd striker option being a loan, but really need a quality CB in permanently. Surely to * there is money there to go and get one.

the money is there, but folk are forgetting we arent going to sign folk fo rthe sake of it,

have u even thought that the players were looking for are just not available, or * forbid they dont want to come?

or how about the only way we can get the quality we need is loan deals as they would be far too expensive for us to sign full time?

deary me, you think the board would honsetly risk losing brendan after what hes gvien( in monetary terms)

they wont want to lose purely down to the money he brings in

Well said. If Brendan is happy then we should be too. He's the key to our success.

    Quality over quantity all day.

Could turn around and say look at the perminant deals like VVD, Jozo, Big Olivier, Armstrong, Sinclair, the Thumb and The Zombie Slayer.

I don't mind some loads because we have clearly last if last minute and shot ourselfs in the foot regarding getting permanent deals.

We should have gone out an signed Jerry St Just before he went to Feyenoord and he would have been that extra bit if quality at the back.

I'm not surprised that we have left it last min yet again, time and time again our board have done the wait and see game.

It needs to stop because we could end up losing Rodgers because of it.

I'm waiting for the "we tried but couldn't get it over the line in time"

Really Peter the window has been only open for several months and you could have out something in place put of the window anyway........

    Classic Celtic.

It's just a way of refusing to spend money, and then acting like we tried. It'll never change with the current board.

    So am I.

But maybe he's not. He certainly wasn't chuffed in January with the lack of business.

Good thing about BR is that while Lennon waited until he left to moan about penny pinching, BR will come out and say it if he believes it.
