For all his faults, Sviatchenko is still a better defender than Boyata. I can feel the fear creeping through my veins when Boyata gets near the ball.

 

I disagree, I think Boyata is a much better defender overall however I agree that he does make the occasional mistake and I worry about him. I would rather we sign a new centre back but would rather we sold sviatchenko over boyata

 

I'm genuinely really worried about going in to these qualifiers with Sviatchenko and Simunovic. We cannot cope with long balls over the top or teams putting pressure on our centre backs when it's Simunovic and Boyatta let alone Simunovic and Sviatchenko who constantly lets the ball drop and tries to deal with it then.

If we sign a decent right winger I know we'll have a real solid, European worthy attack, but we will concede so many sloppy and avoidable goals. In Scotland we look shaky at times, even playing it out of the back Boyatta struggles and that's with the opposition 11 standing off him. Surely Rodgers and co see this.

 

I don't think there is much in it, I would lean the other way though. A centre-half is our biggest signing though.

 

Agreed, hopefully they invest a decent amount of money in one

 

CB must be a priority...

With Simunovic the only one we have of CL quality and even he doesn't have much experience at that level.

 

Murdo has us selling our 2 centre backs (simo and Erik) and tom rogic in today's paper.

I have been saying all along that we need two quality CB's

When we are up against it in Europe, which we will be, it will be our defence that will keep us in the game, as us scoring loads of goals in Europe is a fantasy.

Got to be a quality CB CM and winger now for a fair crack at europe if we can get them for the right price.

 

Yeah. What annoys me enough is that: squad players. The academy should produce squad players. There is no reason to sign guys to sit on the bench or that are "good for the SPL". A team full of Hendersons and Mackay-Stevens would win the league, just look what happened to the third and the fourth best team of Scotland last week.

We should only sign young guys with the potential to develop or guys that have the ability to bench one of our first teamers. Guys that can cover for injury can be found at our development squad.

 

If they signed only Roberts and nothing else I would stop moaning.

But since they wont, we need to make up fpr this

 

Boyata out for three months means a centre half will have to be signed shortly.

 

Realise it's relatively early in the window, but our season starts in 7 days. Glad we aren't just buying any old squad filling fodder, but mon tae * Celtic give us a couple of belters soon ffs, and the end of season DVD pronto!!!!!!

 

Cover for Boyata is a must now. Erik and Jozo will get us through the linfield tie but I fully expect another centre half to be in before the 3rd round first leg. Ideally a couple of signings by then - a centre half and a winger please!
