I agree, reminds me of when we should have signed James McCarthy from Accies.

Aye that's fair enough totally agree.

Is McGinn a better player than McGregor or Henderson? Dont know as haven't watched the boy see people saying he is a young version of Broony

McGregor is miles ahead of Henderson and McGinn.

Absolutely. The progress wee McGregor has made in the last year has been incredible. Those back-to-back goals vs the huns shows how much of a big and reliable player he's become over the past 12 months.

Well I would steer clear of McGinn then if that's the case.

Not sure he is better than anything we have but he does have potential so I wouldn't be against it but want some quality signings also for the Champions league

I'd like him, I'd prefer him to the likes of Mcgregor.

Think he adds a bit more steel to midfield, Mcgregor should be nowhere near that area of the field, a bombscare. Going forward yes, but he'd be 3Rd in line for that role behind Rogic and Armstrong.

Why is it rubbish though? Mcgregor has accomplished far more in his career than henderson and mcginn put together so what is so ridiculous about it?

I like McGinn and always have but if he moved to England or whatever I wouldn't be sick. I remember being gutted about McCarthy and daily hoping he'd sign when he was in the paper's being shown about Anfield by the likes of Gerrard thinking *, make a bid Celtic..

Dyed in the wool tim on our doorstep for a mill or just under. That was a sickener as although he's had injuries and a bit of off form last year or so, I still think he's been a big player down here..

The way our midfield is at the moment I don't think we overly need a McGinn and with Brendan talking about that extra wow factor playmaker that bangs home even more..

With Brendan's top drawer coaching though, I'd be excited to see what he could do with fine tuning McGinn and some of that rawness..

Davies felt that Jonny Hayes had "settled in really well" since moving from Aberdeen, but would not comment in depth on a move for Hibernian midfielder John McGinn other than acknowledging he was a player he admired.

The Englishman said: "He's a good player but again it's not fair to speculate about players who belong to other clubs. He had a very good season and I'm aware of him being a good player but that's as far as that one would go.

"We have players for every position, so there's not one area that stands out as an alarming position that we need to fill, but of course, you're looking at quality players."

Is he any better than he was a few years ago ?

Anytime I seen him last season he looked very average.

I hope were his next full time club. If he's really about to go to Ipswich then we should buy him and loan him back to hibs for the year, otherwise just monitor him for the year

He's not good enough, not any better than Henderson and isn't the player that's going to push us further forward in Europe

I'd be happy with Hayes, Him and two signings of real quality..

This place will go into meltdown if the signings come in that order though.. :giggle1:

He is vastly superior to Henderson at this point who has done very little to justify the lavish praise he seems to get off so many Celtic supporters.

I see Henderson as a guy with nice flicks and touches, a good set piece delivery and literally nothing else.

McGinn is tenacious, determined, dogged, hard working, positionally sound and is a solid passer of the ball with plenty potential left. He's about as close to an identikit Broony pre-Celtic as you'll find.

I think McGinn would have been a more useful signing than Hayes, but yeah, the timing is not good and it is looking increasingly unlikely we will get anything other than SPL stuff. Furthermore we would have to buy and loan him back because as stated we have better players from our academy doing better at the moment.

BR stated explicitly that there will only be one more signing until the end of the UCL qualifiers so yes, if this is the other signing people have a reason to be mad.
