I'm a huge Oasis fan, i own every single album they've released, that goes for High Flying Birds and Beady Eye aswell. My second favourite band of all time after the Beatles.

Never liked Blur, Damon Alburn's voice goes right through me. Song 2 being the exception of course.

Neither. Not listened to enough of Blur to really judge them but from hearing a few songs, they aren't my cup of tea.

Oasis...the most overrated band of the last * knows how many years. I like a couple of their songs but I really don't get the hype with them.

Plus, Liam Gallagher is an unbearable, arrogant *.

I think that's unfair to call Blur a pop band, especially when comparing them to Oasis. Blur were much more experimental with their sound and much more diverse in their music. The only time I think Oasis tried something different is when they went acoustic on songs like Songbird.

Some of the tunes from Oasis at their peak are absolutely incredible and timeless.

If you don't like Oasis you're fur the watching IMO.

Accusing Oasis of ripping off the Beatles or never trying anything different is a non argument in my view. The Beatles argument doesn't even stand up. Oasis pinched a few lyrics here and there but sound wise they are nothing like the Beatles. As for not trying anything different, neither did the Rolling Stones but that doesn't stop them being one of the greatest rock bands ever. If you're good at what you do then why * about trying other things? Sadly in the case of Oasis I think they lost it after the first two albums. I quit on them after Standing on the Shoulders of Giants, that was a * album.

The Importance of Being Idle is Oasis' best song.

A lot of Oasis' stuff is underrated.

Always see folk moaning about Liam's whiney tone etc but they have some excellent work.

Masterplan, Half the world away, Talk Tonight all brilliant heartfelt songs. Then if you are having a bevvy and want to switch it up stick on a bit of Cigarettes and Alcohol or Rock N' Roll Star.

I love their stuff. Even if it makes me a generic Indie rock * in some folk's eyes.

The album of B-sides Oasis released is better than a lot of the actual albums other bands release. I have every single from the first two albums in the two big plastic * packets you could get to keep them in with the wee booklet. Some brilliant tracks on them.

It was Super Furry Animals (still is) , Pulp and Supergrass for me.... while the other two fought the media generated 'whose best' battle.

My girlfriend around the time really liked blur.. Which was enough to put me off.
Never really took to Oasis , the laddish gobby swagger kind of did them for me although wasn't that fond of the tunes either. As a musician myself though , I can appreciate Noel Gallaghers writing talents. He uses a fairly simple formula ( verse, verse, pre-chorus, chorus , repeat) for his songs, but it works and he uses a very large range of chords and highlights to make it all work. Don't really like the man, but he knows how to write a catchy tune...

Off to check if I have 'Stopped By The Fuzz' on my iPhone !

They are too. Noel isn't actually bad to listen to.

It was aimed at the OP who said Blur didn't take themselves too seriously. Damon takes himself extremely seriously.

Much as I don't like the brothers... I do find some of their antics funny!

Noel having his teeth smashed out in Vancouver was a highlight!

As was his comment about not being invited to the Brit-Culture do at 10 Downing Street with tony Blair while Noel was....

    " I don't Fckn care... It's a * house... I've got a better house.. Mines detached!"

And this beauty about trashing a Gibson guitar that Mrs Rooney had bought for baldy Wayne... I bet he still can't even tune it up? Although I think it might have been sold on anyway as it came back the wrong colour!
