Champions league draw!

Don't know why we chose so many keepers....

Would have had Commons in rather than Bailly.

 

EDIT: Nevermind, we only have 3 club-trained players, so had to leave one roster spot open.

I think it's a sign from Rodgers that Common's days at the club are done.

Dundalk, Malmo, Rosenborg amongst others including the winners of the Austrian League and the Croatian League. Will we be seeded for these games?



If we win, we then have the third qualifying round, 'The third qualifying round is split into two separate sections: Champions Route (for league champions) and League Route (for league non-champions)'.

This year the Dutch runners up will be in the third qualifying round as will the runners up in the Russian League.
We will win the SPL and Ajax are currently second in the Eresdivisie. Could we potentially be off to Amsterdam in July? Or do we avoid these teams somehow.

 

I'd imagine we will be seeded again.

 

Is this the year where the coefficient gained from our last 16 run drops off???

 

We cant draw Ajax if they finish second. They go into the league route as they didn't win their championship. We are obviously in the champions route as league winners. We should be seeded all the way through as well meaning even if Ajax win their league they would probably be seeded with us in the final qualifying round meaning we would avoid them.

 

If we do qualify I really hope we don't draw Barca again ...I think we must've played them more in Europe than any other team in the last decade (slight exaggeration but still)

 

Only other team that could come close is Benfica who I think we've faced 4 times.

 

I think that if we make the group stages again we have a chance of being in pot 3.

Nice and Leizpig are both certain to qualify directly to the group stages due to there league positions so will automatically go into pot 4 due to very little co-officent points,unless either where to win there league,which is highly unlikely.

We are also seeded above a number of teams that would likely to join us in the group stages so it would be highly likely we would become a pot 3 team.

This season we where the highest seeded pot 4 team so the fact that Nice and Leizpig are doing so well should be very benefical to us for next term.

I feel bad moaning about getting barca in the champions league. After all its the champions league and I'm grateful to qualify. But still... anyone but barca

 

So who are our likeliest toughest possible opponents?

 

Nice easy draw in the 2nd round and 3rd round then the playoff 2nd leg at home will do me nicely! Some old foes there though! Malmo, Astana, Rosenborg! Hope the beard sheavers don't win their league again this year!!!

 

I would like to get Malmo again and put them in their place, tough opponent though due to them being midway through their season it's a massive advantage

yes and we have to get out the group to keep it at the average standard it is now which is a little scary.

 

Didnt they change the the pot system? Isnt it that if you win any league in the top 5 leagues you're in pot 1? this is why leicester were pot 1 last year and drew such an easy group

 

No. It's in the next year according to wikipedia that we drop the points from reaching the last 16.

Only two teams above us in the coefficients can be in our draw: Olympiakos and Sparta Prague. Since there will be five teams seeded till the last round we are guaranteed to be seeded no matter what until the end.
