This. I also think he needs to win a couple more Scottish FA Cups. (Compared to the LL67's haul)

just need to be patient and wait 5 - 10 years, then it'll be an unequivocal yes.

This highlights how subjective the whole thing is, I'd argue that none of them should be muttered in the same breath as Henke and that lennon isn't in the same league as Sutton or Hartson. Also you can be a legend for reasons other than football ability.

I'd not say Nakamura was a legend, just a decent player whereas I'd say Brown is a legend in his own right for his captaincy and commitment to the club + his personality. IMO.

He may not have been consistent or so talented right throughout his career as others here but I'd certainly class him as one.

A decade's service and counting, numerous trophies and memorable moments as captain. He will be remembered forever no doubt and come the end of his time here will have won even more and probably surpassed 500 games.

I agree with what some have said regarding the word 'legend' being thrown about, but, he deserves it. IMO.

Jesus! Never realised it's nearly 10 years since he signed.

I go with the poster that prefers to wait until they're finished before issuing legendary status.

I also like to wait until the end of a career before trying to assess these things.

Regardless of what he does between now and the end of his Celtic career he has done enough now to be classed as a legend much more than players like Nakamura Sutton Petrov etc

It's subjective really, but for me it's a player who gives their all for the jersey, and someone who understands the passion of the support and represents that on the pitch. A legend is a player who will be talked about for years to come and Broony falls into that category. We'll also look a different side without him in the team and that speaks volumes.

    Yes 100%

When Scott Brown retires we will realise how good of a player he actually is. Very few players have such an engine and ability to drive teams forward like he does and I hope he manages to squeeze out another 2-3 seasons yet before he goes. He has never been the sort of midfielder to spray 40 yard passes nor is he a goal scorer but players like Brown are not easy to find people who will do the nitty gritty and push other players on to reach their peak. By time he retires he will of played over 10 years for us lifted numerous titles and other competitions and how many players will of played while having tendonitis in there hamstrings just to lead our team?

Great player and great guy hope he stays at our club in a coaching sense for many years to come.

I agree that the players I mentioned scored more goals than Broony more than likely. However scoring goals is not the be all and end all is it? If that was the case then Mcgrain, Aitken, McNeill etc would not be legends of our club? Broony gives his all for the jersey and has captained the side to league titles and other domestic honours. For me a legend is someone who has been with the club more than a 2 or 3 year contract. Can't say that about a lot of players classed as legend by either the fans or media.

I went for no, purely because he's just not of the same ilk as Johnstone, Larsson, McStay & all the others in footballing terms. I'll remember him more as a great servant to the club, a fantastic captain & even a cult hero, but club legend?

I struggle to see how he'd be remembered as such in 30 years time when fans reflect on the greatest Celtic players in history.

And it's all about opinions and you are entitled to yours, the one thing that can't be argued is as you say his service and trophies as captain.
