Griffiths is yet to make any real mark in European football for us, so Hooper for now.

Griff - better goalscorer, harder worker, better attitude.

Can't honestly bring myself to decide.

A year ago I'd have no hesitation in saying Hooper but Griffiths has really convinced me of his goalscoring ability.

I'd love both as they both bring different attributes to the table, as well as goals.

Gary Hooper :- Played 138 goals 82 = He scored in 59.42% of games.
Leigh Griffiths :- Played 85 goals 49 = He scored in 57.64% of games.

Hooper just edges it for the moment.

I always think that goals and games don't tell the full story, because an appearance can mean a 5 minute cameo. If we take do it in goals per minute, which is more accurate...

Hooper - 11,060 minutes, 82 goals, a goal every 133 mins, and 30 assists, which is an assist every 368mins.

Griffiths - 5,344 minutes, 49 goals, a goal every 109 mins, and 16 assists, thats one every 334 mins.

But, tbh...I still think Griff lacks the all round game of Hooper(on the deck I mean). I think Hooper is better, or was when h was here.

    Hooper: 138 games, 127 starts, 82 goals, 30 assists.
    Griffiths: 85 games, 59 starts, 49 goals, 16 assists.

From 127 starts, Hooper has been involved in 112 goals.
From 59 starts, Griffiths has been involved in 65 goals.

They both have outstanding records. I'd go for Griffiths - love his attitude and think he's a better all-round player. Imagine having both in the same team though.

I've always said Hooper and still probably lean slightly towards him when it comes to this debate but it's closer than it's ever been for me. Leigh's work rate right now and consistency with goalscoring in particular is key for us.

Brilliant records for both. As you say the goals per minute is more accurate & that has Griffiths out in front. As we keep being reminded as well is that Hooper played in a better team than Griffiths so does that make his tally even more impressive than Hooper's?

To be honest I always find these stats pretty meaningless. I like that Griffiths is willing to have a dig from positions that Hooper wouldn't let's be honest. Hooper would rarely shoot outside 20 yards.

Don't get me wrong he was a cracking finisher, more clinical. But I like Griffiths willingness to pull the trigger. I don't think it's necessarily a negative

Good amount of stats there. The bolded makes Hooper look more clinical but I think that's down to the sheer amount of shots Griffiths takes. He has so many long range shots, for the most part Hooper never did that.

    Great stats ILTC :50:

I knew Hooper was better in Europe but I didn't realise he was that much better. 34% all round seems like a pretty good ratio, you know what top strikers generally achieve?

Interesting that Griffiths has hit 51 more shots already this season than he did last season but has only scored 2 more goals than he did, only actually 1 more from open play as hes scored a penalty more this season. Mostly down to Europe though where he only scored 4 from 32 shots at goal.

Biggest difference between the two is their European stats. Hooper managed 7 goals from 18 shots in Europe to Griffiths 4 goals from 40 shots

One of the important things about Hooper for us was he was highly clinical against all opposition, in Europe and against the huns even more clinical he only hit 10 shots against the huns and scored 5 goals.
