If we beat Ajax.

Ajax are beatable right now especially at home. For me the only way we wont win is if we bottle it again. It's a difficult test, but Ronny has to show signs that he can pass difficult tests. If he fails again, then it's time up. If he organises the team sufficiently to get a good performance and a win, then he buys himself some time to turn it around.

 

Beating Ajax wouldn't change much really. As has been said, they are very beatable.

It'll be interesting to see the team he picks and how he sets us up. Giving away another couple of goals would be unforgivable.

 

If we get pummeled for 90 minutes of fast breaks, lack of possession and somehow his defence has learned and we win then maybe... if we play amazing attractive football then get pumped 4-0 by pass backs, and mistakes then he's got to go.

 

Id rather we played like how molde did otherwise we will lose. Ajax are poor but they are better than us and that's the way we should treat the game launching counter attacks.

 

For maximum entertainment value on this forum, we really should beat Ajax 3-2 :icon_mrgreen:

If we smartern up at the back, provide decent cover from the middle and actually take to playing football like we did last season, then we can beat both teams. Do that over two games and things look a lot better and anything after that could happen. This is football afterall

What happens in the situation that we beat ajax, molde beat fenerbache then on the final leg we draw with fenerbache and ajax beat molde? That would mean us, ajax and fenerbache would all be sitting on 6 points

 

It then goes down to a mini-league between the 3 teams who are tied. Ajax would be eliminated as they would have only got 2 points from the 4 games against us and Fenerbahce, whereas us and Fener would have got 6 points each from the 4 games.

It would then depend on what score the draw was in our final game against Fener. If it was 0-0 or 1-1 then Fener would go through, if it was 2-2 or higher then we would go through.

 

Let's just pump both of them, simples.

 

Can we beat them both and still get knocked out?

 

No.

 

Got to hope Molde beat Fenerbahce and we beat Ajax which would put us level with Fenerbahce on points.
Example

Molde beat Fenerbahce 1-0
Celtic beat Ajax 1-0
table would be

Molde 13 pts
Fenerbahce 5 pts GD -2
Celtic 5 pts GD -2
Ajax 3

This means we would need to win against Fenerbahce or have a 3-3 draw or higher score draw.

 

It would be a massive fluke on Deila's part and a catastrophe for Ajax.

Unlike most European campaigns, I'm not expecting a win in the whole European 'adventure'. Shocking considering we're used to a couple of wins and a scalp against a big team. Deila's teams just whimper.

 

Not really a fluke considering we could have won against both Ferner and Ajax.

There is nothing to show that a win against either wouldn't be a fluke.

 

Of course we 'could' have, we didn't though.

Tbh, if we concede less than two goals I'll scratch that up as a minor improvement.

 

We were the better team against Ajax and Molde ...so if we win it wouldnt be a fluke .

In all honesty we should have really beaten both already. Ajax at home should be a win. While Fener away will be tough but doable too.
