I can see what you're saying but there's no guarantee another leader would have been as smart or as good a leader as Hitler was. Really difficult to speculate to what direction or extent of racism the Nazis would have reached without Hitler.

I don't think the rise would have been there, Hitler was never voted into power by the German people, was he?

Would you be a monarchist today if the monarchy was Catholic?

    Yes.

In 1928, the Nazis had only 12 seats in the Reichstag; by July 1932 they had 230 seats and were the largest party.
The government was in chaos. President Hindenburg dismissed Brüning in 1932. His replacement - Papen - lasted six months, and the next chancellor - Schleicher - only lasted two months. Hindenburg had to use Article 48 to pass almost every law.

In January 1933, Hindenburg and Papen came up with a plan to get the Nazis on their side by offering to make Hitler vice chancellor. He refused and demanded to be made chancellor. They agreed, thinking they could control him.
In January 1933, Hitler became chancellor, and immediately set about making himself absolute ruler of Germany using Article 48.

That was the * up. Making him Chancellor.

Totally this is just purely speculation. I do think that Hitler was not a good leader though. He was charismatic, yes but he was stupid. His egotistical traits caused him to make self destructive decisions.

Another leader, in my opinion, would be more pragmatic regarding the Jewish question and would allow military men to fight the war which would inevitably occur. Imagine if it was people like Rommel responsible for actually fighting the war? The allies would have been cunted. A less egotistical leader would not have honoured the alliance with Japan when America declared war on them, thus America never enter the European theatre and the UK would now be a province of the Greater Germany.

Once the war is won, if this hypothetical Fuhrer has the same anti-Jewish fervour as Hitler, then the Final Solution could go ahead now that Germany occupy almost all of Europe with little capable opposition to stop them.

I'm of the opinion that its actually a good thing that Hitler took control of the NSDAP as with a more intelligent and pragmatic leader Germany would have been victorious in Europe and every Jewish man, woman and child in Europe may have eventually been exterminated

Ive argued with Marky a few times on this.....i cannot believe anyone in this day and age would support the concept of a royal family, of any religion......i really cant.

You are saying you would kill Liz 1, to change the line of the dynasty and have brought religion into it as part of your reasoning!?!?

I honestly cant get my head around that.

    edit...just seen your new thread!

Kim Il Sung should be on that list, conservative estimates say 4-5 million people died under his regime but no one really knows the true figure or the extent of the famine of the 1990s, throw in purges, concentration camps and a state that has everyone spying and reporting on each other and you have to conclude that was one * that should have been taken out for the good of the people.

Blair and Thatcher certainly would have been better for the UK if they had been taken out in their first days in office.....no question

He was the first emperor to be Christian, legitimising the religion and giving it the strength and conviction it needed to become what it is today. Without him, Catholicism wouldn't exist.

Of course his wife was the one to push him into it on his death bed...there's always a woman at fault somewhere. :56:
