Anyone been to both or either.
    How did you enjoy it.
Especially like to hear about Rimini.

Went to Rome in 2006 and was there when they won the World Cup. Was a great city to do sight seeing and learn about the history. Plenty of good places to eat and shop too. Was a while ago now so can't remember details but the tour bus was a good way to see the city.

Aye its a * hole. Got too many trains going back and forth and the seating is *, I got mugged by a heroin addict hiding in a bin and the buskers played * music I couldn't understand, think it was in French or some pish. Worst station on the Paris Metro system I passed through

I was in Rimini in June while interrailing. Stayed a night there due to visiting nearby san marino for a daytrip. Beautiful place and very italian. Got there late at nigĥt funnily enough from Rome and had a couple of hours in the place after visiting San Marino before our next train. Not touristy at all. Felt as if we were the people in the place that weren't Italian :smiley-laughing002: As for Rome, when crossing the road don't stop or you'll be in bother, mental traffic :50: but a fantastic place, really need to stop for a minute and take in the coliseum when you first see it, the vatican etc.

    Get that most places tho

I've been to Italy twice Sorrento and Milan

Naples I thought was a dump and sorrento was ok but could not cross the road due to mopeds :smiley-laughing002: I stayed in the Hilton and had a great view of a rock face

Exhaust fumes all over the show and full stinking bins

Milan I thought was pretty minging built up and full of graffiti will never go back

As for Rome well no doubt some good sites too see but I can only imagine it being similar to what I've seen

Not a big lover of Italy but Rome is a place you need to see and do, been twice. Loved the sights and sounds of Rome, the history is fascinating. There are free English tours at the coliseum that are well worth looking into as you'll learn so much more (the company puts them on for free in the hope you book other tours with them). The Vatican is amazing and that's my biggest piece of advice, book, pay and do a tour - the first time I just wandered around and missed so much and didnt learn much, paid for a tour the second and it was something like 6 hours long. Was so worth it. Enjoy.

Rome is amazing. If you like history like me, there is no end to it, from B.C. To WW2. If you are religious you must see Pontius Pilate's steps. They are at La Scala Sancta next to San Giovanni metro station. They have been there since the 4th century and were the ones Jesus walked on. (His blood can still be seen on them apparently ). Only drawback is you have to go up them on your knees. :54: loads to see and do, never tire of it, my favourite city:50:

I adore Italy but hate Rome. Once you've done the Coliseum, the Pantheon, Trevee Fountain and the Sistine Chapel (if you're into that), there's just the scammers and pickpockets left.

Much prefer Venice, Amalfi, Cinque Terra, Siena and Lake Como.
