Yeah, canny really stand the thought of having no European football after August. I wouldn't mind as much this year than the last couple of years because at least we have the Sevco games, constantly playing the likes of Motherwell and Hamilton with no "bigger games" gets a bit tiring.

Astana, big city 800k, small gates 3.5k. Capacity 30,000. Seem like a club on the up, good at home. Nothing is easy as we have seen.

Not wanting to jinx it because I know it's going to be tough but someone said Astana usually win by one goal at home. I don't think that would be the worst result to take back with us considering how good we can be at home.

Still prefer to come back with a score draw at least.

I'm confident of beating Astana. I know they had some good results last season, but I think Rodgers will have us clicking a bit better. The second leg at ours will help too, and I think they will struggle with travel as much as we could.

I'm not so confident about the potential next round though. They are all solid teams, and we're *. At least we're not in the other part of the draw though. Man City, Roma, Porto, etc, will give us an utter *...

    It is harder.

It's a slippery slope and we've been slipping all over the * place. You fail to qualify for the big dance year after year, next thing you know you're in a downward spiral, to the nightmare scenario where playing in the CL becomes a pipe dream/distant memory. Probability of qualifying gets lower by the season. Exponentially more difficult.

This is why it's extremely reckless for us to not push the boat out while we're trying to right this ship, get into the CL, and back on a positive footing. Missing the CL one season is a pity. But you put a few together, and it's a different ball game altogether... a long-term risk of slipping into European no man's land.

If we get through this game in Kazakhstan... Does anyone know our possible opponents? I'm guessing we're either seeded or not and it's not just a free for all. Any ideas?

We'll be seeded but our opponents depend entirely on who goes through

Potential opponents could include BATE, Kobenhavn, Ludogrets, Legia and one other I think. It is posted somewhere in here.

That is assuming all of them go through...and we do. :56:

Not going to jinx it by naming names but but a certain team not too far from a lot of you is currently holding out going into the last 20 minutes. Would be a fantastic result.
