    Did you not rate Agathe?

Larsson aside, he was as crucial as any player from the MON era.

I did. He was a great defender, his recovery pace made it almost impossible for anyone to get enough of head start on him.

His attacking play left a lot to be desired a lot of the time though.

I think he is looked on more fondly now than he was at the time.

Look at the way Rab Doulgas tries to save there second goal. That is absolutely shocking goalkeeping.

He puts his two arms in close to his chest widening the goal target for the Stuggart player giving him a better chance to score. He should be putting his hands out at the side to narrow the target like any decent keeper should do.

    I noticed that as well.

Couldn't have made himself any smaller to block that shot. Looked scared of the * ball as well.

    Hated that hod carrying *.

Can't say I agree, a mind he always received great praise at the time. He was a big performer on the European stage his pace always caused havoc.

As great a slide tackle he had, and the good defender he was, it's his attacking play that I loved the best.

Very true. Agathe had all the pace in the world, and would give any fullback he was up against nightmares because of it... but as soon as he was to cross the ball - fargettabboutit!!! Woeful. :31:

Anyhow, not quite sure how Agathe worked his way into the N'Guermo discussion, as they really were nothing alike.

Remember watching big Rab warming up in Seville * all sticking to him, pointed it out to ma Da and knew we were up against it there and then.

MON inability to spot a decent keeper was major flaw in his tenure.

Could you imagine Boruc, Forster or Gordon in that team?

    Martin really couldn't spot a keeper. :smiley-laughing002:

Agree with this. Personally I liked him but he got pelters at times from the crowd.

Agathe took pelters from * in the crowd who thought he was Forrest Gump.

His pace was absolutely incredible, we've never had someone capable of hitting the ball 10 yards in front of them giving the full back a 5 yard start and still collect the ball like it was nothing.

Anyway, N'Guemo... :56: he was more like Lenny than Agathe FFS.

The one game I always remember when I think of N'Guemo was the away game against Dinamo Moscow. N'Guemo had a great game that night. That was one of his first games for us and I remember being quite excited that we had unearthed a gem.

I mind watching him his first game - pretty sure it was a friendly down at Cardiff.

He was brilliant, getting stuck in, breaking up play passing was decent.

Didn't the French coach at one stage say that if Agathe could cross the ball he'd be in the team? But yeah, nothing like N'Guemo.

N'Guemo was alright, played in a shockingly bad Celtic team (or for a bad maanager) so all his mistakes were highlighted. Might have done better with better players round about him so he could just focus on breaking play up.

He did well when he partnered Crossas. Win the ball - give it to Crossas, that was all he had to do and it worked well. Brown came back from injury and Crossas got dropped, then N'Guemo looked * as posession kept getting lost. If you could have combined the best bits of N'Guemo and Crossas into one player that'd have been some midfielder. :icon_mrgreen:

N'Guemo was a decent player. If he'd played in a better Celtic team he'd be lauded I think, not the best passer of the ball but he had a great engine and he was a solid tackler.
