Hooper was our main goal threat for three seasons, done it in the UCL and several times against the dead club.

Griffiths has a lot to live up to if he wants to match Hooper's goalscoring exploits here.

Griffiths' general play and first touch is really poor, Hoopers all round game was first class and he contributed a lot to the build up play, whilst Griffiths may score a similiar amount of goals he will never be in the same class as an all round player.

His hold up play alone is miles and miles better than Hoop's.

    Easily.

Griffiths can score from anywhere, Hooper was a box striker.

    Hooper was class though.

No way Hooper is a far better player than Griffiths. Just saw above claim that Hooper is a penalty box striker, two unbelievable digs from edge of box v Killie when we won league and last game against died Huns spring to mind immediately

Edit I do like Griffiths though 100% commitment but I suspect we need better

Not for me. Don't get me wrong I think Griffiths is a good player and has shown great growth in his game and clearly has grown up a lot as person this season under Delia. But for me Hooper was a better all round player and with Guidetti pretty certain to not be at Celtic next season I would still love it if there was a way for Hooper to be brought back to Celtic.

Don't want Hooper back, even if he is a better player. He should rot on the subs bench at Norwich. :icon_mrgreen:

Dunno fellas. Seemed to me that there was very few players Hoop could link up with when he was feeding another striker aside from Stokesy. He seemed a bit clumsy and got the ball taken off him too easily. He was a very predatory striker, though. Any mistake by our opposition and it was doomsday, especially close-in.

I do think that thumbie has better hold-up play though. Thumbie also links up better with our other strikers. His play is not beautiful or intricate in any sense of the words, but simple and effective. He also seems to be the type to end up scoring more goals for us in the long term.

    Griffiths for me. Sorry haters.

You're playing away from home in the Champions League. You decide to play one up front. You have Hooper and Griffiths in your squad. Who do you pick?
