    Dundee Evening Telegraph:

Dundee United will have to fight to hold onto striker Nadir Ciftci this summer, it has been claimed.

Reports from the west coast have said that Celtic are poised to make a £1.5 million bid for the Turk when the transfer window opens.
The speculation comes just months after the Hoops swooped in for Gary Mackay-Steven and Stuart Armstrong.

In fairness Leigh Griffiths has been working his socks off for us since his first day at the club

He's a bit of a *, to be fair. But he is quite talented, and would fit the bill quite well for the lone striker we need. If anyone could sort him out it would be Deila. I had him on Fifa 15 for St Pauli, and within 3 seasons he grew from 68 to 85! Not that it means he will be a great player, but still!

Would no one take him for £1.5m?

I think it's a decent fee for him. Bangura was £2m and Ciftci is already acclimatised to Scottish football.

Are we assuming that the fee would be the £3m that is mentioned? That is far from cheap for Ciftci.

We're assuming they wouldn't be getting that. Did say Wed offer £1.5m. I think that's a fair price.

I wouldn't pay £1.5m for him either. To be honest, I would rather we didn't bother trying to sign him at all. He is a decent SPL player, with an average scoring record, and is a loose cannon if truth be told.

Best player in the league in the lone striker role, incredibly strong for his age, very quick for his size, his goals have dried up as he isn't getting the supply, had a fantastic understanding with GMS when both played at Tannadice.

    Lazy player?

I don't think so, just a young lad who wants the ball all the time and can get moody when he doesn't get it.

One of those 'Broony' players, a * when he plays against you but you love him when he's yours.

FFS leave him alone please, we need him.

Best player in the league in the lone striker role, how do you come to that conclusion?
I don't even see him as an out and out striker (though he plays the role), I've seen him in games where he plays well off the front man in one of the three behind the striker..
He has all those attributes as you say but you are definitely over egging how good he is in each..

I would say he's a lazy player, very inconsistent with it as well and has a disgusting attitude and is a total liability. I wonder how many appeals he'd win at Celtic park for kicking players in the head, elbowing them or roughing up refs? He'd be out the door in a flash..

The truth is, he's not got the consistency or temperament to be a Celtic striker, and even for 1.5, it's a total no thanks..
