One of the best atmosphere's I've been to. Still made a good night of it though. The majority of fans were still dancing and singing into the night and the squad came and done a lap of honour. Not many other teams would've done that. But the linesman was shocking, FIFA need france n italy to go through...just one of those things. Continentals looking out for each other. BRING ON THE WORLD CUP

 

I seriously think the ref was paid to make sure Italy won. How could anyone who is impartial give a free kick away to Italy like that. It's cheating and it stinks. It degrades the game ffs.

 

well lads, to be honest scotland's goal was offside, where italy's 2nd goal wasn't, but it didn't count. Don't blame the ref, you are better than that.

Agreed don't think the ref cost us the game. We were beaten by a suoerior team, but we gave it a right good go. Proud to be Scottish..

how did the ref and lines man not gift italy the game? to hand them a gift, they had to take from us. thus costing us the game.

 

Agree with Paul 67,the ref made a shocking decision for the free kick,but it didnt cost us the game.We could and should have been 2 down at half time,and our goal was offside.I think some people are letting their disappointment get in the way of their objectivity.All credit to the team for giving us a campaign to remember,but no excuses.

Problem is, even with the higher seeding for the WC draw, it is tougher to qualify for the WC than the European Championships. Fewer European teams are allowed in the WC than take part in in the EC so we've now got every country in Europe chasing even fewer qualifying places. How * long is it going to be before we make it to a Summer Finals again and get roundly humiliated ?

 

I was gutted yesterday too mate,but come on,the ref did not rob us,maybe we should have defended the goals a bit better!Cant remember any Italian team losing goals in the first and last minutes of a must win game.Thats the difference between us and the major nations,they are professional and savvy enough to go away to an intimidating atmosphere and get a result.
You make a fair point about the difficulty we face qualifying for the next tournament.Surely we cant get another group like that one?Can we?

Personally I don't blame the ref. Both goals conceded were poor defending, totally agree. Although giving a free kick against Hutton was absolutely bizarre. I don't know how may teams from each group qualify for the WC. One possibly ?

 

Im a wee bit unsure about what point youre making mate.
