The aim: To take any sort of victory in the first leg.

My view: I'll be happy as long as after the 90mins the Inter players know they have been played against. I want to see all of Deila's ethics come to fruition here. Lots of movement, pace for whole 90mins. If we take a lead I want to see us continue to get to the final ⅓.

Yes we can beat Inter at Parkhead, at the San siro? maybe. But we need the result at home first.

Poor Dirk Diggler , mustn't get much enjoyment following Celtic .

I thought we had every chance of beating Inter , i was a wee bit worried when I heard they had hired out the world class training facilities at Murray Park . I believe they have paid a £1 for use of these facilities on Wednsday and Thursday. On further thoughts I am not so worried when I remember how poorly prepared the last team that used those facilities were.

I believe we can, which makes missing the game all the more painful.

    Believe. :celt_2:

We can definitely beat them, but I wont be too disheartened if we don't.

They are a good side no matter how they've been lately.

We will need Izzy to choose carefully when he's going forward as Shaqiri will be playing on that side and has the quality to hurt us at any moment.

That's probably why Wakaso playing wouldn't be such a crazy idea to me, any time I've seen him he always tracks back to help Izzy out, has tons of energy and pace too, which could come in handy if he's on his game. Which he should be as he was just playing in the AFCON and done well.

Saying that though, the last time a player came back from the AFCON, he totally * it for us.

I think we can win over the two ties but if we do it will certainly be close. An intersting point tho is that if Inter were to go on and win the Europa Cup then would that not give them a place in the qualifiers of the champions league. They have no chance of getting this through their league position i think. Huge incentive for a club like them.

The winners of the Europa get automatic qualification into the CL next year. I made a similar point to this when some folk were talking about Inter potentially fielding a weakened team. There is no chance of that happening in my opinion, because this is their only hope of making it into the CL next season.

They are only 10 points from 3rd, which is Italy's last CL spot, they'd have to qualify with 1 round.

Although they are 15 points from 2nd, the only other automatic CL spot.

6 points behind 4th which is an automatic Europa League spot in Italy.

Crazy how backwards Italy have went. Didn't they have 3 automatic CL spots and a 4th which had 1 qualifying round not long ago?

Thought it just got you into the qualifiers but no matter. I agree tho mate and thats what i meant . No chance any team in this comp that doesn't look a stick on for CL qualification through their domestic league will field anything less than a 100% team

Italy has definitely went backwards but remember Germany has shot up those coefficients as well.

That's why I'd start Armstrong out there. He looks a really intelligent player who has defended excellently in the two games he's played for us. Sure, they haven't been against the best opposition, but it's enough to prove to me that he's a better option defensively than, say, Stokes.

No matter who starts up front they need to take the chances and stay the * on-side, the Italians will play high and try and catch on the break with thier pace, they did that on Sunday and would lap up attacking play broken down with catching us offside. Thier arms will go up every time....remember Juve! They did the same.
