Does John Guidetti prove that we need to spend big in order to gain quality players?

That's if we do sign him of course.

Hopefully free at the end of the season.

I know what you mean, big money often means a better player with a proven track record.

We know we don't have the money to spend these days. The board seems happy to sign numerous players around the £1-2M and hope one or two come good.

I guess if you add up the money spent that has been wasted, you could justify that splashing out £6M+ on one player might actually be better value at times.

IMO yes it does we all know it's gonna take us to spend some money to get that extra bit of quality.

We need to make sure we get him signed, and we still need more to make us a team that will get into the champions league.

No, a loanee doesn't prove that.

Wanyama, Forster, Ledley, Lustig all prove otherwise.

I think we need to spend that little bit extra and pay that little bit extra in wages to keep this young guy, he is proving already that he could be well worth the money we need to spend on him. If he ended up scoring 30/40 goals this season for us the money we need to put out to secure him on a permanent deal will be worth every penny HH

    This.

One signing can never prove anything with regard to overall policy. You could equally use the Guidetti signing to say it proves loan signings with a year left on their contract are the way forward.

Just take each signing as it comes. I haven't heard of most of the players we've signed in recent years whether they're cheap signings like Wanyama or more expensive like Balde/Boerrigter.
