Have you ever worked for a recruitment agency. If so, what has been your experience of them good or bad.
Would you recommend friends to them.

Some are good...Reed are total crap...if you can get a job specific agency to tailor to your needs you are fine.i have been using them for 2 years after being made redundant but thankfully full time now:50:

I will be 2 years with mine , come November. Complete and utter * ! Despise them. Total joke.
Holiday pay with them is non existent and I'm on minimum wage, even though I shouldn't be. On plus side though, I've had 42.5 hours solid every week.

Only 1 has been alright with me and that was Blue Arrow - the first time i worked for them. That's because my missus was my boss :icon_mrgreen: so got lots of work.
After she left i got * all.
None of the other agencies are any good.
I done work for Hays last week and havent been paid this week for that work.
Told them i want the cash in the account today.
If not then i will be reporting them to REC who can shut them down if enough complaints come in.

    I always thought it was half your age + 7. In his case 12.5 + 7 = 19.5 so he's grand.

Anywho, I've been with a recruitment agency for 6 months now and they're a shower of shites. However I've got a steady job in an industry that I want to be in so they're a necessary evil I suppose

Yeah I've had a few bad experiences with recruitment agencies, but there are some good ones with people who really do seem to have your best interests at heart. Just a case of getting lucky really.

Most of the day to day ones are just leeches making money out of a recession. I hated knowing i was doing the same job and getting less because i used an agency.

If you can get a specialised sector agency you will have more luck and ideally the agency will get a lump payment for your employment as opposed to a % of your salary.

Pagepersonnel avoid them like the plague- they flew me down to london for a regional sales job and never even had the courtesy to arrange feedback/let me know if i got the job. Usually I wouldnt be arsed if i hadnt heard back but the manner it was handled was appalling. Only job ive went for, utterly convinced id nailed it and never even found out why i hadnt.

Whats for you wont go past you and if i had got the job i wouldnt be able to work from home 4 days a week:50:

If you are looking for work PM me i know a couple of decent contacts within agencies that i know will get you the best they can.

Just made a complaint to The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) about Hays recruitment.
They have refused to pay me for work i did saying references havent come through.
Told them that what they are doing is illegal and told them about me making complaint.
    Want these * to pay.

Signed up with a few, had 1 fone call to say they had no work n fuckall else.

Know guys who get a lot of labouring work through them but you could be in Parkheed one day and Paisley the next, * that.

There's the first mistake letting them phone you. I was with an agency years ago and phoned them twice a day until they found me something. If you don't pester them you get nothing
