Do people really believe in the existence of *?
    Seriously?
I am not for knocking anyones' faith of beliefs for the sake of it, but if people thought about the origins of their faith and read up on the history of the period in which these beliefs took hold, they might come away with a different point of view.
The Romans didn't scratch their arses without a blood sacrifice and having a soothsayer examine the entrails and pronouncing the omens.
Jesus Christ was only one of a multitude of preaching performers in his time. What set him different was that his pitch was in the main trade route between Antioch and Alexandria , which was the area where Rome couldn't allow disobedience that might affect the supply of corn for the milling of bread to feed the masses at home. Even Pontius Pilate washed his hands of him and didn't want to try him as he saw Jesus as just another eccentric.

Blah....blah...blah.. it all culminated in the resurrection and the rest is history. Christians fighting an uphill battle until Constantine converted three centuries later to get the masses on his side. Nothing but an astute political decision. From now on the Christian faith is the official faith of the Roman Empire.
    If only Carlsberg did conversions.

Control the peoples' beliefs..... control the people.

Terrify kids with stories of *, eternal damnation, everlasting fire, the smell of brimstone and you'll keep them in check for years.

Lots of the posts so far have been off the cuff, humorous, middle of the night-* out of the skull, -all great reading including the Savonarola contributions by North, but I would like to know what people really honestly feel that a possible afterlife might be like.

I don't actually believe in the literal existence of *- this thread was obviously just for a bit of fun. I do enjoy reading books on the history of the devil and so on thou..

You know that old quote though-
"The devil's finest trick is to persuade you that he does not exist."

    muhahahahahhhaa

Heaven and * aren´t places in the literal sense. What they actually are is very hard to put your finger on, but they´re definitely here and now rather than somewhere else and after death IMO.
