I agree. We don't even have proper facilities for our youths to train in. For example there are hardly any indoor pitches.

Ajax are pretty much as good as it gets at youth development facilities. I remember when Celtic did footballs next star they went over to ajax to get an all round physical assessment since we didn't have all facilities required.

He would be nowhere near our youth side.

He isn't good enough for our first team? :56:

You are forming your opinions on nothing more than his age. He is mentally and physically ready for Norway ergo he's ready for Scottish football.

Regardless he is 16 in a few weeks, as Wenger himself has said you are all the player you are going to be technically not long after that. Everything else is purely preparation for first team football.

Better players sit on our bench ever week. Just looking at his Soccerway page he isn't exactly a regular starter for Strømsgodset. He hasn't played all their games, he has made a sizeable chunk of his appearances coming off the bench and often doesn't finish games. Nothing to be ashamed of though, as is only fifteen.

Of course I am. He is fifteen, has he even finished school yet? He needs a chance to grow up first and mature.

No he's not. He is Norwegian so he hasn't had to move away from friends, family and the culture he has always known to play football. Incontinently his dad played for Strømsgodset and almost certainly got him into the first team at such a young age.

I also highly doubt he is completely ready and set for Norwegian football. I don't watch him on a regular basis but from my experience of watching exceptionally young players here and in Brazil they are highly inconsistent. They go from multiple goals one week to being subbed off at half time the next. Plus no fifteen year old has fully developed physically.

Exactly. It isn't all about being a skilful player. You need to have the mental strength to be a footballer. Maybe, at a older age being in the goldfish bowl of Glaswegian football can help him there.

Would love to get him but Ajax is a better fit for him in his perspective, Ajax sell on a few players each season and bring young players through in their place unlike us who buy or loan in players that are early 20's that use us as a platform to go onto the BPL etc. We need to be doing what Ajax are doing, give the youth we have a chance and only try and pick up younger players to add to the youth squad. We have Fisher, O'Connel, Fraser, Henderson, Twarzdick all chomping at the bit for a chance and deserve one. Next season O'Connel and Henderson should have enough experience to be competiting for a first team slot.

Probably see him later in the season, especially since Mulgrew is getting older.

There is no point in bringing in youth players for bringing in youth players sake.

We have the nucleus of a very young side, purchased or brought through the Academy it makes little difference. We are not spending fortunes on players we bring in. As an example it would be utterly stupid of the Club to play someone like Henderson over Johansen purely because Henderson was developed by us.

Can remember making this same point about Wanyama and Twardzik.

NORWEGIAN wonderkid Martin Odegaard has told Manchester United and Real Madrid that he will inform them where his future lies when he turns 16 next month.
Odegaard, who has already played three times for Norway, is being courted by all of Europe’s top clubs.
The 15-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Celtic when Ronny Deila moved there in the summer, with the Parkhead boss giving him his debut at Stromgodset.
But the attacking midfielder is believed to be ready to go to either Manchester or Madrid when his season-long contract at hometown club expires next summer.
He celebrates his 16th birthday on December 16 and Champions League holders Madrid have made a big play for him by tabling a five-year contract.
But United believe they still have a great chance of landing Odegaard after impressing him with a tour of Old Trafford and Carrington.

Ajax would easily be the best move for him at this stage, by a long way. If he goes to Madrid he will never make it in the big time, I'd quite happily put my neck on the line and say that now

(come back and slate me in 10 year when he wins the Ballon D'or)

Only chance we have of getting him is if he thinks Deila is the man to further his career. Can't see us getting him.

Same. Every single site that has a 'ones for the future' or 'top ten young stars' - or something to that effect:smiley-laughing002:, has him as one of their top 5.

Can't see him rejecting the big leagues for Scotland.
