Can't wait for the beginning of the season to start. The Pats look top quality this year with Brady back and signing Greg Lewis and Joey Galloway to partner Welker and Moss. They also picked up Fred Taylor which is interesting, don't think he will make much of an impact but he use to be good a long time ago. The defense as always should be rock solid with some younger players getting the nod this season.

It's easy, as long as you know a few big names. Just stick them at the top of your preferred order and then it's the luck of the draft.

It's not as if you're going to be up against a panel of experts. :icon_mrgreen:

It's gettin to be that time again... this year's College Football season looks like it's going to be incredible. I don't ever remember there being 3 quarterbacks the quality of Tim Tebow, Colt McCoy, and Sam Bradford playing at once. And doesn't Colt McCoy have the absolutely perfect name being the posterboy All-American Quarterback for Texas?

Probably been asked before - but why do they call it "football", given that there's only one player in either team whose foot ever strikes the ball, and he only comes on for about 30 seconds every hour or so?

Wouldn't "handball" have been a more sensible name to steal? :icon_mrgreen:

There's 2 actually. Punters and Kickers are different. Not that it makes any more sense. :50:

Oh, and Ohio State. May we win a BCS bowl this year. :31:

Football's the name of the code, not the sport. "Football" is actually named Association football. All sports that derive from Association football, which are the most popular sports in the area, have taken the generic name of the code, "football." Kicking used to be much more common in the 30's and 40's before the forward pass, when field position was more difficult to come by. Drop goals were much more popular back then as well, some even coming from the run of play. These things kind of went away, but there wasn't exactly going to be a big conference circa 1970 to change the name because some tendencies like kicking had gone out of style.

They just churn them out at that school, don't they?

Depending on where you are, it's more popular. In the South, Los Angeles, and the Planes' States it's more popular. In Texas it's probably about equal, but in the northeast, northern midwest (Detroit, Chicago, etc.), and South Florida NFL is more popular.

College Football usually have stadiums with larger attendances (really small seats) and definitely have better turnout. Because of the student sections, the atmosphere is also not even comparable to NFL (snorefest imo.)
Because they're not seen as merely commercial money whores, NCAA football usually has stronger connections and more credibility with the community as well. This isn't to say they aren't money grubbing capitalists that'd sell your mother at the drop of a dime -- it's just that they get a pass in the public arena because they're with a University.

But like Diegan says, it depends where you're at and who the teams are. I used to like NFL a lot -- until some jackass moved my team to Baltimore. Because of bs like that, I just don't watch NFL anymore (even though they got a new team ran by numpties.)
