I know our defense is abit untidy right now but maybe this formation could work

    ---------------------------------Boruc---------------------
    ------------Wilson-------------Mick------------Naylor(COMPETION NEEDED)

    ------------Mcgeady-----------Sno-------------Nakamura------------
    ------------------------Brown--------Donati------------

    ----------------------Skippy----------Miller--------------

now i know about naylor he needs a kick up the * but with this there is cover in the liks of sno and brown as sno is DFM and brown likes to cover both boxes tbf i think this formation would work wonders with our attacking mind howabout you guys?

One centre back and 2 full back's does not make a back 3 for a start. And Miller is off, so the front line won't happen.

    ...............................................Sno...............................................

    .......Nakamura...............Brown.................Donati..................Riordan......

There is a case to ask about playing Naka on the left and Aiden on the right. I think VoH is struggling because nobody is getting good balls into the box. Naylor's form is woeful and Wilson always puts his in too deep. Naka and Aiden have to cut inside to cross the ball. None of our players get to the byeline and whip the ball in at pace to give VoH the chance of heading it in.

    maybe kennedy ahead of caldwell?

i would prefer to see naka on the left along with either riordan up front on the right or mcgeady on the right. maybe also have riordan taking the right footed free kicks take te pressure off naka?

4-4-2 will do fine for me, that formation your saying would probably work on a games console but on the pitch its a no, we drew away from home in russia and i thought that was a great result, and we havent lost a game since the league has started (touch wood) so in my opinion our defence cant be that bad, i feel McGeady should come back and help out Naylor when he needs it but he dosnt do enough of it, if you watch the games you will see Nakamura coming back and helping out Wilson when he needs it everytime.

I've been advocating 3 at the back for weeks. Especially at home in the SPL we spend most of the time in opposing half so the extra men in midfield should help??

    Not sure about Europe though

i just think a 3-5-2 formation in he SPL would be less predicable then what we normally play it will change how the opposistion come against were as we are using the formation as we don't wont to be so predicable in our play with the attacking heads in midfield and up front it gives us the extra option up there leaving the opsistion again confused, as i find the SPL sides know how we play so changing to such a formation, can sod them over and does well

In Europe we would get ripped apart with a 3-5-2 as so many teams use the wings effectivley and wit 3 at the bck they would simply stretch the defence to easy.

As for the SPL. Hmmmm possibly

Martin O'Neil used to favour this formation. But you have to remember that his left and right midfielders (Thompson and Agathe) could defend as well. Neither McGeady or Nakamura especially will track back so whoever would be behind them would be cruelly exposed.

well mcgeady says he wants to learn and naka has said one day he would like to go some were to improve his game so why not learn how to defend.

at the end of the day if they did they would be worth more as they can do more

To go that way is bold. Im not going lie and say I dont play this formation in video games but thats besides the point as thats fake...

We could probably get away with playing this against the low SPL teams, Gretna's, motherwell's etc etc..

But beyond that no way... And if we play a few matches with a different lineup it affects the flow of play and the responsibilities... and can create lapses in judgement.

Not a chance we could play 3-5-2 unless Hartley was on the wing (to protect the wing) and McGeady in the middle.

And of course some decent centre backs.

    E.g

    ----------------------------Boruc-------------------------------

    ------------------Kennedy----McManus------O'Dea--------------

    ----Nakamura------Donati-----McGeady-----Brown----Hartley----

    -------------------McDonald--------JVOH-----------------------

Don't see Strachan going for that. Maybe 4-5-1?

Nah I tend to use 3-5-2 in Football Manager but you need the right players or it can be a disaster.

It would have to be Caldwell, McManus and O'Dea as centre backs but we don't have the wingers who'll get up and down all day long so I would say it's better not to use it. I'd be more tempted to go 4-3-3 against some SPL teams than 3-5-2

It would definitely have to be 3 centre back's, not McManus and 2 full back's. That would be suicide. Someone said O'Neill did it, he used 3 centre back's, plus Thomson and Agathe who could defend too. It's not going to happen anyway as Strachan does not play that system.
