As Celtic Underground pointed out it's all hypothetical. Keane captained Man Utd for years, sure he's fiery but I'm sure he's professional working under a manager. Alex Ferguson loved him.

Doesn't matter if the manager wants thems or not, it was to stop them walking away for nothing in a few months time, with these new contracts we'll still get a few million for each of them even if the new manager doesn't want them.

What have McKay and Laudrup ever done? And Moyes isn't coming.

Imo the manager should be appointed by now, any time from now on is being wasted.

McKay done great jobs at Watford and Cardiff.

Laudrup had a great first season, playing great football at Swansea. They did fall away a bit this season mind you.

i think its difficult to criticise Mr Keane as a footballer.......fair is fair he was a fantastic leader of men on the field of play.
    however....
He has failed to turn what he achieved as a player into anything of any significance as a manager.....outwith a promotion with Ipswich its all been a bit rubbishy.........i wont call his tactics into question as i dont know enough about his preferred options on his sides game plans.
    However.
What cant be denied is that as a man manager he has failed spectacularly with stories of dressing room unhappiness and division due to his style of management.....countless times we've heard the stories about clubs he's been in charge of having issues with player harmony.

for me a Celtic manager should earn that role either in service as a player to Celtic or someone who carries a weighty impressive C.V after gathering a wealth of experience in management of top class sides.

Mr Keane ticks neither box..........Thanks Roy.....but no thanks.

Roy Keane has achieved as much as a Manager as Malky McKay, Owen Coyle and Michael Laudrup.

Nobody is getting this point really.... it's just vague statements like "Roy was pish at Sunderland and Ipswich"....

When in reality he did well to get Sunderland back in the PL and never really put them in danger until he left. At Ipswich he didn't improve them but didn't nearly get them relegated either.

The other three have had similar achievements but nothing that puts them in a different class than Keane... I strongly believe it's all to do with his character, when he does something wrong it'll get blown out of proportion more than Coyle getting sacked from Bolton or Wigan, or Laudrup being sacked from Swansea.

Spot on mate. As he was such a successful player any failure as a Manager is blown up ten fold.

Does anyone think Lawwell saying 5 to 10 means he might have some potential managerial candidates in contention for the assistants job? perhaps Larsson initially?

Doubt it, the manager will want his own staff, and I don't see Larsson or anyone with aspirations to be a manager again taking an assistant job
