Watching it?! I had £75 riding on Murray. That 3rd set tie-break was uncomfortable watching to say the least! A couple of bad misses by Isner and a couple of great returns by Murray made the difference.

Good match though, both players played well.

Hahaha congratulations on the winning bet, although I wouldn't have envied being in your shoes for the 2 Isner match points. Isner played well today, as he does every year in the states, but he's just never developed enough for me. Andy also just looks like he's going downhill I'm afraid, sad to see from such a talented player, but that back surgery must have taken it's toll.

I had a feeling he would. He hasn't been playing for a few weeks now(since Wimbledon I think?).

I said this about Wimbledon and ended up almost being right but I think the US Open is wide open. Djokovic has gone off the boil since winning Wimbledon and getting married(too much * probably :smiley-laughing002:), Murray is nowhere near his best just now and I still doubt that Federer has another Slam in him. It's not beyond the realms of possibility there could be a surprise winner.

*, it will be boring without him.

Well,he had lived with his wife before he married her, so, nothing really changed.
If Nadal had those 2 fails as Đoković everyone would be saying how Nadal doesn't have a clue on hard court, he can play only on clay, blah, blah, blah...Nadal already started to prepare for RG blah, blah, blah, while Đoković is the * on hard court, yeah sure.

    Surprise winner would be cool.

It is a shame Rafa won't be there but I'm sure it'll still be a great tournament. I don't see any clear favourite in either the men's or women's singles. Looking forward to a fortnight of quality tennis and hopefully make a wee bit of money at the same time.

Coco Vandeweghe is a scary woman. She'd snap yer * off and use it as a *. It'd be great though.

With no Rafa and Murray and Djokovic off form, this is Federer's best chance of another slam. Fail in New York and he won't ever win another.

Ana Ivanovic knocked out of the women's singles. Serena's path to the final just got easier.

Andy has done well recovering from a * start to the tournie.
I dont think he will beat Djok though, but its a tough draw at this stage.
    Mon Andy!

I wouldn't rule it out, Djokovic is overwhelming favourite but I think it's time for Andy to prove he's back on track.

Hope Nole dismantles Murray. I think he will too.

There's been some amount of upsets this past two or three days. Aleksandra Krunic was brilliant. 5ft 4in and not at all powerfully built yet she knocked out two powerful 6ft+ women(Venus Williams and Petra Kvitova) then very nearly knocked out a third in Victoria Azarenka. Fantastic performance from her.

The men's tournament does miss Rafa though, it has to be said.

Heard an amazing stat earlier. When Djok has won the first set in the US Open, 40 times....he has never lost..

Andy when winning the first set, has only lost once.Go Andy.
