just read that were gonna be taking our 1st team squad to play the possible champs of the EPL. Hopefully big balde puts another couple past em ;)

naw but seriously .. Anyone Interested in this match ? Think it will be good way to test some of the young blood again (fisher & Henderson) but still play our strongest team. Hopefully Liverpool will too. That's if they get their private jet that is ...

CELTIC could be set to play an end-of-season glamour match with potential English champions Liverpool on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius.

By: Mark Walker Wed, April 16, 2014

celtic will play Liverpool in a friendly in Mauritius.

Neil Lennon's side have agreed to travel for a friendly on Sunday, May 18, according to organisers.

Liverpool have agreed to tour the island for a week if sponsors can secure the deal and have sent members of their commercial department to negotiate.

And the Scottish champions have provisionally agreed to play the Anfield giants at the 30,000-capacity Stade Anjalay in Belle Vue Maurel.

The organisers are Mauritian company Health and Sport, in conjunction with their Government's Ministry of Youth and Sport.
Their spokesman Jawid Tharanee said: "Given the friendly relations between Liverpool and Celtic, the Scottish club have agreed to come"

Given the friendly relations between Liverpool and Celtic, the Scottish club have agreed to come.

"They made contact with us and agreed without much convincing. We had requests from German and Italian clubs to play the match too, but we are happy with Celtic.

"Celtic have stated they will bring their first team over for the game."

Liverpool are due to play Shamrock Rovers in Dublin in a friendly on May 14 and it's believed the deal hinges on whether a private plane can be provided to fly them from Ireland to Mauritius.

Celtic will have finished their Premiership season by then.

Why the * are we playing the game in some remote island. Surely playing at anfeild, CP or the aviva would make more sense.

They are obviously good money spinners, but these games mean absolutely nothing. I will likely still watch it, but I don't think you can take anything away from these games regardless of the result.

At least Balde might get a start!

Who honestly cares about it? A kick about after the season has finished to boost the coffers with a few extra bob. That's it.

because I think both teams will play good teams as the season will be finished. Plus we bet them with basically our youth team at the start of the season and the players/fans might want to turn the tables. Never know, think it'll be a belter !

Nah, there won't be many world cup players there i wouldn't have thought, will just be reserves and those not going to Brazil.

Why? They had their full team out down in Dublin and our kids pumped them.

It'll be a Derby match to him, probably booking flights and creating banners as we speak.

A don't Suarez Sturridge or Gerrard would play in this meaningless friendly so close to the World Cup or anyone else going to the World Cup from either side.

In our case a think it's just Sammy Izzy Van Dijk(yep he'll be there!), and Ambrose. Anyone else form our team?

A pre-season match is a bit different to an end of season exhibition game. i am sure if the game went ahead though they would take one or two first team players.

Send Balde out on his own.

They might be future EPL Champions, but they've never faced anything like Amido down in England.

They'll put out a 2nd string team, especially if they win the league, majority of players will get a few weeks off with the World Cup coming up

I deliberately put 'down in England' at the end of my post to avoid smartass comments like this. We played them in Dublin last year.

Better luck next time though :50:
