Are the SNP a republican party? I know it's obviously about independent but I don't think I've ever heard there position on it the Greens are the only big party that endorse republicanism that I'm aware of

No, they're not. They made it clear during the independence referendum that they wished to retain the Queen as head of state in Scotland.

Last time I looked the official SNP view is they would keep queenie but, ultimately, it would be up to the electorate to decide.

I would drop the "big" :icon_mrgreen:

Wonder what odds I would get on there being more tory MP's in Scotland than labour ones ... :smiley-laughing002:

Why though do they not want to come across as Anti-British or something that could be the only thing I could thing of. I'm always really surprised that most in the UK would probably want the end of the monarch but no party's really push for it

    Big at a push :smiley-laughing002:

I think they kept the whole Queen as head of state to pander to a certain group.

It would surprise you just how many folk down south still enjoy the idea of a monarchy, jesus - just look closer to home in Govan and see the sickening, sycophantic lot at Ipox.

Was trying to find statistics on republicanism in the UK and it turns out it's actually illegal to have those views :smiley-laughing002: no wonder it's not big then haha

The stance is to keep as many as possible happy , Personally I'm not too bothered either way , well apart from paying for them, they are wealthy enough to foot the bill for themselves. Think its also mixed into the commonwealth etc.
I would actually quiet like the idea of an Independent Scotland reintroducing our own royal family, just to get it up them as well but that would be petty and childish of me :icon_mrgreen:

    It's a very BIG push :86:

That's all it was, pandering... to Unionists, strangely enough. :smiley-laughing002:

I'm sure that's why the nationalists legislated against Irish republicanism as well.

You need to vote at the place on your registration/polling card. Polling stations open from 7 am until 10pm,so perhaps you will manage between these times.
