Aye that wound me up. He does * like that quite often. Last week Begovic was raving about Miralem Pjanic and he asked whether he was good enough for the EPL.

Sick of this * - I've seen it go as far as Messi wouldn't get as much goals as Suarez in the EPL.

Glen Johnson summed up Merson quite well.

 

Merson was kinda a * about his whole team. Petrov gave Larsson up front, and Merson says something like 'Tell us why you think Larsson is so good then. Uh obviously I mean we all know he's good but something in particular." And kept harping on about his time managing Walsall. See when you're interviewing someone, repeatedly bringin up your failed managerial career and your ex-wife isn't exactly good etiquette.

 

Walker must have really made an impact on Stan, they only played together for 6 months.

 

Say what you want about his arrogance with regards to English football, but using horrible addictions to discredit someone is scumbaggery of the highest order.

 

Good point. Merson's general ignorance is * all to do with his other problems.

 

Agreed but to be fair what he's saying is true. He was average and the only reason he is on Soccer Saturday was to help him out cash flow wise and throw him a lifeline. The guy is a terrible pundit let's be honest. Nothing wrong with that but if I was a player and one of the worst pundits on tele was slagging me and my ability I'd have a thing or 2 to say about it. Not like that though, so for myself to say he is summed up well by that was wrong, I'll retract that. More meant Merson as a pundit.

I agree he isn't the best of pundits. I think Sky has him on as a sort of a joke figure the same way they use Chris Kamara. He is a bit of a half wit but he's undoubtedly popular, and was a cracking player too.

That tweet says more about Glen Johnson than it does Merson. Having known ordinary people who have suffered with alcoholism and severe gambling addiction, I know how easily people can slide down the slope. Fair play to Merson for overcoming it and making something of his life. I reckon he comes across as a likeable sort of * too.

Merson was on coke as well I thought. I don't think he's a *, he's just a typical arrogant * when he talks about English football. He definitely had more ability than Glen Johnson though.

Charlie's right foot let him down big time, I thought he'd be a contender to get the record.
