Gone backwards since last season, can't be dropped as he is one of Deila & Collins pets.

Except he has been dropped plenty this season.

Think he has been injured and not dropped!! Has the touch of an elephant when through on goals when 1 v 1 with the keeper.
If Broony is injured he better get the finger out against the sheep on Saturday!

“I think that is his best position,” said Deila of the role Johansen performed in the 2-1 Tynecastle League Cup triumph.

“As a No.6 together in the same position as Broonie and Nir [he is most suited], but he can also be a No.10.

“He is a hardworking player with very good technique. His creative side also comes together more maybe when he is playing in that central role, so that’s good.

“I think he will agree that he should have performed better [this season]. He has been unlucky with a lot of injuries and hadn’t played for full. But he feels better now and in the two last games he has played excellently."

That's a really surprising comment since he's mostly played as a no. 10. We even called it the Johansen role last season

I've always thought the 'he can't play deeper' thing was a myth he can and has played well there.

At his best last season he was further forward but there's nothing to say he can't join attacks from deeper, he had the energy to do it for 90 minutes no bother.

If he doesn't go wondering then he can play deeper. It's when he starts doing the same chasing he would when playing the number 10 role that he becomes a passenger, as it leaves us short in the middle of the park.

I just don't think that he really fits into the team at this particular moment. Brown is ALWAYS going to occupy one of the midfield positions, and Biton should be played ahead of him in the other.
As for the more advanced role that he played last season, well, I just don't think you can drop Commons as he can change a game in a second.
He should have a real fight on his hands to prove himself to win a place back in the starting 11, but as has been mentioned before, he is one of the 'favourites'.

When he first arrived he was played in a deeper role with Lennon, his debut was one of the most impressive I can remember seeing in the flesh. Bossed it. Different formation granted.

He can definitely play there effectively. Absolute myth that he can't, which some folk seem to think.

Last season he was pish in the holding role excellent in no.10.
This season pish in no.10 very well in the holding role :smiley-laughing002:
Playing a lot smarter now, not just running about like a daft *, drops deeps holds the midfield when needed and presses well when also needed.

Haven't seen him do his pressing high up the pitch for a while, did that really well in the second half, love to see that

He's keeping this simple, back to basics. Best thing to do when you're out of form.

Thought he played well, this is the first game of the season where hes looked in full flow physically, hopefully over the back problem now and fully fit again. Played well the last 3 games I thought.

Looks like he will be playing Thursday since Borwn won't be back, that will be the big test for him. He needs a big performance for the fans and mainly for himself to find his form.
Once Brown is back Ronny will have a bit of a deilemma with who will play CAM

His best performance in many weeks. Never stopped running, and linked up the play well.

Hopefully the start of him getting back his form.

    :50:

Looked very assured in the deeper role and still had lots of energy near the end which could be a real weapon in games.
