It was 18 months and it was when he was taking injections in his ankle that hindered his ability to strike a ball. I still say we should have just let him properly rest during that time, it's where all his injury problems stemmed from that he only seems to gave gotten over this season.

He lacks cutting edge to be a playmaker because he's not a * playmaker.

Makes up for it by hard work? No, that's what he does.

Would've been interesting to see just what an injury free Brown would have turned out to be like and how his game developed, instead of him playing with like you said that bad ankle for so long and then playing with a bad hip for ages not too long ago.

Certainly held him back/stopped him becoming better.

    Great post Devlin

While Brown isn't the forward thinking player he was a Hibs, he has developed into a indispensable player. He's vital to the team. We do look out of sorts without him at times. So yeah, I'd say he's matured into a combative midfielder that we rely on at times. To be here for 6 years, the £4.4m seems good value.

He's right though, he's not and never has been a playmaker.

If Brown had never went to us, where do you think he would be playing his football now? A team in the Premier League?

And I hope it stays like that for the rest of his career,I think it will..

He could of played and was wanted by loads of premier league clubs, and don't let anyone fool you that it was only the struggling ones :50:

One of the big ones tabled a 9 mill bid just after he signed for us..

    Yep.

I remember being at a match against Kilmarnock at CP a couple of years ago and it was a horrible game on a * cold night during that * of a winter we had. The team was one nil down and it didn't look like we were coming back as we had no real urgency or purpose on the ball. Then Broony, who was still returning from injury, was brought on and immediately took the armband to begin barking orders. The team immediately seemed to find another gear and we equalised to draw the game 1-1.

Just goes to show what an influence he has as captain and how important he is to putting in a good performance. I'm sure plenty of people can wheel out the statistics of our win-rates with and without Brown but I'm just glad we have him.
