Absolutely pumped them 2-1. Looks like its coming together

 

Good performance overall today after that horror show first 5 minutes. In fairness with better finishing particuarly in the second half we win that game at a canter. I though we got a ton of quality balls into flank areas and got a lot of good balls into the box. However we rarely had more then one player attacking the goal to get on the end of the balls in. But overall I thought we responded to that terrible start well and kept plugging away. Hope Derk is ok and it's nothing serious him going off early as I though he looked very dangerous and sharp in the 30 minutes or so he played. Well done to Stokes who clearly got better as the game went on and was man of the match for me. Although on another day Commons could easily have had a couple himself. Ledley and Brown controlled midfield well and Forrest is off to a promising start so hopefully he can stay injury free as an on form Forrest would be huge for us to have available consistently this season.

Excellent display from GB today.

 

Thought Mulgrew was brilliant today, especially with the ball. Some of his longer passes were spot on.

Also unlucky with his header.

 

Any highlights lads ?

 

Positives-
3 Points on the board
Stokes looks sharp in front of goal
Commons, Derk, Stokes and Broonie were terrific
GB were in fantastic voice making for a good atmosphere

Negatives-
Ambrose is still a * bombscare everytime he has the ball I'm on knife's edge
Derk's injury will in all honesty rule him out of Wednesday
Amido now has back to back home games on the subs bench without a look in
did I mention Ambrose is a bombscare? If I did I will say again

 

Really glad the season has started. Frustrating to see so many chances missed, I miss Hooper already. Immediately after Stokes hesitated to take that shot with his left I thought to myself Hooper would've smashed this in with his eyes closed. Definitely needs to be replaced, hopefully Stokes won't be #1 striker.

I hope that there won't be as many SPL * ups like last season, first match showed we can deal with 10-men-in-the-box tactics and create chances but struggle to score.

Are the upper sections with the big banner in them today going to be closed off all season for domestic games?

Really didn't look very good when the Sky cameras showed that part of the stadium.

 

Makes sense though. Less stewards, less staff to man the kiosks means more money for Pistol Pete's dylithium crystals to scour the universe for players.

 

Hah it was a good start to the season, but with so many chances wasted I would've loved to see Hooper in some of those situations. Stokes' positional sense in the box isn't as good as his, though I won't complain about the goals!

 

Don't think they are officially closed off but what are the club to do if people aren't buying the tickets ?, myself I think they have missed a trick they should have advertising on this area instead and make more money.
