Wanting £20m for a player doesn't necessarily mean it's a fair price or that it's realistic.

The difference is, we bought him for £900k. He played here two seasons playing European football, and last season played against some of the top teams in Europe and bossed the midfield and didn't look out of place. He proved at the top level he was worth circa £10m and the fee we got for him was definitely fair.

This lad signed for them last season, has played in the league, and thats it. If we signed Joe Bloggs for £500k and he scored 30 goals domestically, would you be expecting to sell him on the next season for £8m or so when he's only proved goals against Inverness, Ross County etc?

I'm not denying the lads got talent, I just think the figures of ~£8m are unrealistic for someone whos been playing in a top league for one season and cost £500k a year ago. I could understand it if he had been there a few seasons, played in Europe and done well, but he's not.

I think around £5m is a fair price for both parties.

I'm actually quite inclined to believe this. I'm not one for spreading rumour, but I was told this morning by a close friend of one of the Celtic coaching staff that this deal was a very realistic possibility after last nights result. Lawell apparently sees Alfie as the key to getting more bums on seats this season (in terms of season ticket sales, not actually having him steward section 111). So take what you want from that, but here's hoping

Hopefully, Big Pete will get going quickly. I wish we would go for Finn and Teemu as well, which looks more likely. WHY NOT have the two of them. Alongside the signing of Nir Biton, which hopefully goes to plan, I for one would be delighted to have the three. Reinforcements are needed and Lenny and the current players need backing. We need to sign a coach for Forster !
The two chances Karagandy had last night we down to Forster hestitating and afraid/insecure about coming out for cross balls. He'll no got picked for England playing like that! Besides it would be good if we spend 4/5m on a centre half and 5m secure finnbogason, or someone of the 5m pedigree. I still buzzing after last night but I'm not * it that we'll get really embarrassed in the CL . Please big Pete , do it and sign us some class, a great bank balance is great but the zombies proved you can't take it with you or your debt when you die. Spend 15m on 3 class players. Match the fans and lennys ambitions. Please ya big *.

Yep surely if we were considering spending 8m euros we could get better?, maybe it's the fact his wages are reasonable that were still interested as most players valued at 8m euros would be on 50g a week, I still think he might go for 5m on deadline day if no-one else comes in for him and Heerenveen realise it's now or never.

 

Stevie woods has done a fine * job! I never rated him much as a player made the odd good save but as a coach he has took Forster from a nobody to a top class keeper who has proved himself in the spl and in Europe and also has his second England call up wrong thread anyway
