The new manager will give Anthony Stokes a chance to prove himself.
If its Brendan like we hope, he will be very familiar with Anthony Stokes, and won't judge him under Ronny's management.

It would be a great chance for Stokes to reinvent himself next season.
And lets face it, we are thin on the ground for strikers and left sided wingers.

Stokes went to Hibs to try and prove he wants to play here and has done nothing to show that he is good enough anymore.

I'd be fine with him as a third choice option up top but I don't think he should be anywhere near the starting line up.

I will rephrase that if you don't mind.

And we must remember Stokes has had the worry of a court case hanging over him and his family for over a year, as well as death threats and vandalism on his house.
That would take a lot out of anybody, don't you think ?

I don't get why some on here are so adamant to force Stokes into our team somehow. He's surplus to requirements and has been for some time. He can be alright in the league, but is * in Europe. We don't need him. We shouldn't strive backwards and keep him hanging around in the team.

    :smiley-laughing002: Aye, ok.

Have you seen him play for Hibs lately? The squad and whole place needs freshened up somewhat. I cannot see Rodgers taking kindly to Stokes' horrendous attitude.

I agree with the first part however you must leave the opportunity for him to turn it around and earn his place in the starting 11. What use is a third choice strike if he has not the possibility of proving himself good enough to start.

He is not good enough for Celtic(others in that category too but that's another thread) He has had his chance. Disappointed as I think that he had a chance to be a big player for us but he really is not. Cheerio.

You and og are Stokseys Ma and Pa aren't you? :smiley-laughing002:

As others have pointed out, he's done. He's been poor out on loan at Hibernian, a chance to prove himself you'd have thought he'd have grabbed with both hands. Still has a terrible attitude problem, I would think any new manager would look at Stokes and see an older, more influential (it the dressing room) player who's not worth the bother and who he can get out with minimal, if any, fuss.

Thanks Stoksey, some of it was good while it lasted.

If his time here is up that's fair enough, there's no need for the venom though.

There's only one striker worth keeping as things stand.

Defo don't want to see him back, had his time.

I'm sure there'll be another glimpse of what he is now come the weekend when he goes missing.

I just think we need to strive for better.

Stokes is nothing special, proven in the SPL but he's not irreplaceable. Yes, we have found it hard to get in better strikers in recent years but that does not mean we give up. Could be for a whole host of reasons as well, if Rodgers signs we might start moving up the food chain slightly and targeting strikers who actually have a decent scoring record.

That's been the problem with Balde, Bangura, Pukki etc. None of these guys were known for their goalscoring prior to signing. Said it before but sign a guy who is known for goalscoring and there is a better chance of him replicating that here, obviously. We seem to have just been pretty * stupid in the transfer market lately, quite frankly :56:

For me the thumb is what I would expect from our third choice striker. The reality is though that even with a big striker signing Stokes offers the third best option as well as cover at left mid. While I am in favour of keeping him I would love to see a scenario where he is surplus to requirements.
